iPhone 7 locked on vodafone

I just took delivery of a second hand iPhone 7 locked on Vodafone. Having a quick look on the net everyone wants me to have been a Vodafone customer for 30 days before they can unlock the phone?! Anyone know a way around this? Thanks
 
No think you have to call Vodafone and ask for it to be unlocked. They will probably ask you to top up £20 with a payg sim as that’s what they charge for it to be done as far as I’m aware
 
Take it to your local phone shop they will unlock it for you have you tried a different sim in it as if ex contract phone usually open to all networks
 
Thanks guys, I am home tonight and will try a different sim in it (I'm at work just now and the mrs has been playing with it). The person I bought it off said it was locked on Vodafone. I have a mobile phone shop local to me and I will take it in there first. I will post back on here with an update. Thanks for your help.
