IPTV on standard broadband

My broadband line is standard copper & I have a 14255 kbps connection.
Question is this, is it wise to use a VPN in UK and if so this will obviously slow my download speed? So will it be quick enough to support IPTV?
Any recommendations for a fast reliable VPN if I have to use one?
I don't really wish to get fibre purely on cost at the moment.

You should be fine. Any bottleneck will be your vpn. But if you have a decent vpn, then it should have more bandwidth than what you have, so won't make a difference

Only time you might have a problem, is if you were recording and watching a stream at the same time

Download speed is more than adequate. It may be your upload speed which lets you down though. This is important too for streaming. Dare say you'll be getting just 700-900kbps if so I think you'll be ok. When I had 8 meg down 440k up I did experience occasional issues. Since getting fibre on the same circuit no problems.
Also your ISP's traffic shaping policy will be a factor but a VPN should negate that
