Is this the correct firmware?

hello everyone,
posted a couple of threads recently about bricking my AMIKO MINI COMBO HD, I've tried everything and a few quid to get it working again but I think its terminal.
so I have decided to bite the bullet and ordered a new identical AMIKO box and I am going to add the firmware and line myself using the guide BEES has kindly posted, going to attempt this at weekend so need some advice
the questions I'm hoping you can answer are -
is this the correct firmware to put in my box - LAVATRONICS-282E220715-MINICOMBO.abs this was released JULY 22nd
I want to be 100% sure about this as I put the wrong firmware in last time instead of a channel list and that is what started all the problems
and secondly is the NET ID for the burnley Lancashire area still - 41048 666.750 6.887
any other advice would be greatly recieved

thanks a lot

The firmware I use for t2's and combo says amiko mini hd t2c 1.3.76 emu.abs. I have used it many times on t2 and combo. If I knew how to upload it I would.

hi walf1888,
used your link for firmware this morning and got the box up and running thankyou, but don't seem to have as many channels HD or SD as I had before I knackered my original box (scanned 3 times), i'm using the same line provider so i'm sure its not that so I was wondering if you know where to get an up to date channel list for the amiko mini combo hd or have any idea what I could do?
if not don't worry and thanks for the help

Ive never used a channel list. I just add to favorites manually. As for the channels missing. I would have thought that would be down to frequency and netid (could be wrong)? Are you pressing f1 on cable installation and adding netid in and saving to default. I found that with the correct frequency got more channels.

*EDIT*

Just noticed its a combo. Is it sky? or/and virgin? I only deal with virgin on them.

hi walf1888,
panic over, I switched the box off for an hour whilst I popped out and when I turned it back on all the channels I want are now there.
(i'm on VM)
thanks for your help, time to make a favourite list

Help! Does anyone know or advise on how to recovery from applying the wrong firmware? Apart from the obvious

Its a Amiko Mini T2/Cable. Every time it boots up keep getting message saying "SW is not designed for this
HW. Please change back to official SW. There doesn't seem to be a serial connection only a RS232 Jack input.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

The link I posted on post nine is the toolbox software required.

here is an rs232 cable with 3.5 jack that says on description it will work with t2

The file i posted on post 3 is the firmware I use on amiko t2's

Thanks Walf1888

Thanks Walf1888.

I will order these items as suggested and apply the correct firmware this time.

Thanks again for your help.

CJO, I had the same problem as you, bought 9 pin RS232 cable, had old laptop in my loft which luckily had 9 pin port on it (they are hard to find as newish PC's don't have one), cable didn't work, it came from china so I thought it had been damaged in transit or was poor quality so bought one from UK for about £15 it arrived didn't work. (I was using a walkthrough guide posted on TK)
thought it could be the laptop as it was an old one so I bought a reconditioned windows xp tower for £50 brought it home tried for hours one weekend but no success.
my mate spent 4 hours one night trying to get it to work but couldn't and he's an IT specialist.
so in the end I bought a new AMIKO MINI COMBO on the well known auction site for £54 to replace the one I couldn't get working, it arrived last Friday, put the firmware in that walf1888 posted above added my existing line and within 30 minutes of opening the packaging I was watching glorious HD again.
so what I am saying to you is save yourself a lot of aggro and money and buy a new box and set it up yourself, I wish I had a few weeks ago!!!!!

I also bought a cheap rs232 cable that didnt work. I was able to solder a nine pin fitting to it to get it to work and fixed the box. The cable I linked was NOT the cable I bought. I linked it as it says in the description that it works with t'2 and gives the pin outs that I used to get mine working. If you like tinkering its worth buying. If I was buying a t2 I would buy from lavatroics. Any expedience Ive had with them has been good.

Gravehead, It seems you've had a lot of hassle and expense with your AMIKO. If all else fails I will order a replacement box.

Thanks for the advice

Hi, I bought an Amiko Mini Combo and within a couple of hours I transformed it into a brick !! ( wrong firmware applied in haste, silly I know ! ) After much searching, swearing, scratching head and kicking the cat I thought I had the correct cables / software etc to get it up and running, alas no.
I am using the 3612 toolbox, the firmware mentioned in an earlier post by Walf1888. I have also tried the latest firmwares from the Lavatronics site to no avail. Using the toolbox i follow the instructions, when i press next i get the following error message :

Test serial port - Finished
Collect STB information - Transfer data failed,
Click back to try again,
Click cancel to exit.

If anyone could help with this they would have my eternal gratitude as I am getting very close to lobbing the lot out the window !!

your rs232 cable isnt right mate. ive just remembered what i done. the cable i bought didnt work so i soldered the nine pin onto the rca cable that came with box which i previously seen on here that someone had success with. using this pin out. it was luck more than anything but it worked.

1st ring (tip)....pin 3
2nd ring..........pin 5
3rd ring...........pin 2
4th ring...........pin 5

rs232 amiko | eBay

ebay has a list that say they work on amiko but if your unsure of buying from ebay id give lavatronics a phone.

if walf1888s way doesn't work for you see my thread (#13).
get a fresh box, use either walf1888s firmware (thread #3) or the latest firmware from lavatronics and use the step by step tutorial posted by BEES.
(put amiko mini combo in the search box at top right of TK page and about the 4th post down you will see AMIKO MINI HD TUTORIAL by bees, sorry i don't know how to paste a link on here) take your time and quietly follow the step by step guide add your line and you're back up and running
hope this helps
