Kryptview Blank Screen

Hi all
I purchased a Kryptview A780 on Wednesday had a few problems getting it setup but after that
all worked perfectly until this morning that is.

Last night I switched the TV over to watch FreeView Tv
as it is a better picture for what I wished to watch.

At bedtime, I switched my TV off in the usual manner and did not touch the box
i.e. put it into standby as I had done the previous night (this was done to ensure
a correct update).

This morning, I turned on my television in the usual manner and changed my av
to 1 which is for the Kryptview and all I got was a blue screen (usual on my TV
for no signal).

I tried changing AV ports on my TV, Changed Scart Cables, have switched the box
off at the mains, have reflashed it and still I have a blue screen.

Significantly the TV scart socket did not work so used the VCR out scart and that
seemed to work until this morning that is now neither work.

Does anybody have any ideas that may get me up and running. Would a box to box
flash (data update) work and if so how do I go about setting it up - do I use the rs232
cable or the ethernet cable.

Rab.

does your box have the red/white and yellow outputs to try, what firmware did you flash it with?and check the remote for tv/av ? some people have pressed wrong button and got no picture.

if you wanted to reflash properly the null modem cable the best way, unless your told to s/w update.

Hi m8, when I first flashed it I used Kryptview_A780_03012011 then I used Kryptview_A780_24042011 and did I s/w update
and everything seemed to work fine until this morning.
I have pressed both the tv/stb and tv/radio button but am still getting the blank/blue screen. I do have the r/w and y outputs, never
thought to give them a try (could be prob with scarts). Will give that a try in the morning bit tired just now as have been at it all day
trying to resolve the issue.

I thought I could take a working flash from another box and put it on this one is this possible?

Rab.

Is there a tutorial on how to do this?

Have tried searching but all I can find is the usual ones firmware flashing and s/w update.
I assume that what I do is connect both boxes with rs232 cable and the one with the good
firmware on to the tv and from the menu select data update/download but after there I
am stuck.

Ok
I have tried red/white and yellow outputs this morning but there is still no picture.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Would have thought FTA channels would be availabe, try the box on a friends set up.

Why the caps Cacti.? :eyebrow:

Would have thought FTA channels would be availabe, try the box on a friends set up.

The whole point of this is that there is no picture whatsoever just a blue screen.

To understand what I mean unplug something that is on an AV and see what you get it will either be a
blue or black screen.

And yes it is connected to the tv via scart and has been tested on another two tv's via scart.

Thanks for that cacti will give it a try as soon as I my hands on another working box in the meantime
I am still having the same problem.

The display on the box just shows a 0 and nothing else.

Rab.

Didn't realise the box showed "0" may be a hardware fault with the box, perhaps a leeking or swelling cap.

Try setting the box up for FTA software, switch the box back on and then flash quickly before the "0" appears.
This has worked on other brand boxes.

Ok lads n lassies

have finally got a picture - on the assumption that there was something loose
I gave it a wee tap and the side viola I have a picture. Obviously there is something
wrong with the box so it is going to be returned on Monday. However in the meantime
I am going to use it.

I have one problem though I have updated to the latest online firmware done a factory reset
turned the unit off for 5mins approx and attempted an automatic search so far so good.

On the Network scan screen the list of network ids is showin as already existing so I am
unable to select my particular Net Id. It finds eleven completes the scan I press exit and
am presented with Easy Installation screen again.

How can I set the machine so I can select my net id?

Rab.

After factory default,
Auto Scan--Channel Type = Network--Green Button--Net ID list should show.

Around 71 TPs should be picked up with the correct Net ID

Remember to reinstall the firmware that was on the box before returning to supplier.

After factory default,
Auto Scan--Channel Type = Network--Green Button--Net ID list should show.

Yeah done all that m8 but just shows as ids already exists - 11 of them and will
not scan with a list of all the reagions i.e. aberdeen , barnsley etc as it did when
I first scanned the machine.

I need to get the id list but cant.

Rab.

Factory defauld should clear all data ,reinstalling an older firmware as they still all work ( 24/04/11 not before) and show the same channels as the latest firmware.

it was a copy and paste i did,if i hand typed it he would be an old pensioner :) cable ribbons inside box are known to come loose in transit,i doubt its a cap.

aye trying to reinstall firmware but it is not accepting it now.
Factory default has been tried on numerous occasions but still keeps the net ids (11 of them) which is what the box is searching on.
have tried manually deleting the id's but if I do that I lose the tpest option as provider
to search on.

factory reset first then power off at rear for a few minutes and remove lan cable should wipe net ids off. or a fresh firmware install will do,remember box has to be powered off pressing download then on.

Hi cacti

have done the factory reset again and done as you have suggested but it is still showing the 11 net ids
and I cannot select my one from a list to do a channel search. To top it all I cannot at this moment
do a firmware reinstallation as it keeps failing for some reason. The box refused to go into update mode.
Is there any other way to delete these net ids so it will go back to factory default.

are you using the correct null modem cable for flashing?usually by a factory reset and removing lan and switching off at rear for say 5 mins should work,as it did on others, when you factory reset you entered 0000 to delete? first then box reboots then power off and remove lan.

yep doing all that m8 it just won't delete the net ids
I am using the correct cable as that is what I flashed it with successfully
earlier it just wont for some unknown reason allow me to flash it now
just done another factory reset will leave off for sometime then without switching
it back on I will try to reflash it.

One note when I delete the net ids manually and reboot the machine the net ids
come back.
