All,

Thought I would give some feedback and hopefully gain some insight to other peoples experiences.

Box looks good, is the same size as the A750 / A780. Nice blue display. Controller is neat and responsive (massive improvement since A750 / A780):)

When I connected up the menu points to scan. This worked okay however I needed to press the red button after starting the scan otherwise the box froze and gave a random number or letter on the display. had to switch off via Back of the box then start again.

When scan completed the box had the channels in the correct order,I had heard someone mention they weren't sorted, On mine they have sorted perfectly.

The picture quality is very very good. The SD channels look alot better than A750 A780.

The HD channels are working and look fantastic.

Hopefully a minor teething problem is freezing and loss of picture on HD channels. I checked FTA SD and they do not freeze it seems to only affect HD channels :(

I have also tried a couple of different NET ID s for Wirral area Manchester 1 2 and 3 but this doesnt sort it out. Early days so will keep you posted. Does anyone else experience this issue? Would like to know if you have improved it in anyway? Perhaps using a different area?

Overall for a new box looks promising, It will be unbeatable if the glitching can be rectified.

A couple of questions

On the A750 / A780 you can see the Signal Quality / Strength. Is this info avaialble on the A850?

I had heard that the A850 will be supported via a seperate server than the A750 / A780. At the moment I notice that the HD signal is present on A750/A780 boxes but ofcourse cannot be decrypted, Why is this?

Does anyone know why there is glitching on HD channels?

dont think its a hd issue as my hd channels work better than the sd channels, eg sky sports 1 on hd is almost flawless with the odd break up in picture but the sd sky sports 1 channel is almost unwatchable, breaking up all the time

its early days tho and am sure new updates will erase these issues in the near future, and when it is up and running smoothly then it will then be advertised and sold to the general public, too many people buying and switching to the new server at once will only cause more problems hence the hush hush about the box untill its running properly

First off on the Net Id the only way to get the correct Net Id for your area is from a working box, this has been highlighted before, virgin have changed the areas around so what you would have been scanning on before might not be for you now, i would suggest finding out the correct Net Id from a neighbor or friend who has a legit box.

Second problem glitching that can be many factors on this, the first been you dont have a legit cable sub, and pay only for BB which virgin have started to reduce signal to these customer, if the box on your road has been recently painted from green to a gray color then your area has been done, split cable and incorrectly fitted connectors is another problem.

As for not been able to view Hd on a Sd box, it does not have the capability of decoding the content, hope this has answered some of your questions, i hear there is new software due soon to sort the niggle problems out.

You wont find it on any forum as i have said in my previous post, get in touch with your supplier and ask them where you will be able to get it from, for obvious reason its not available freely.

when you say the channels are in order are they sorted in to categories / favourites like they where on the A780 etc ( Sport, movies , general ) or are they just in order as per cable having a complete listing of the several hundred channels ?
 
So far just same order as per standard Cable box, there are favourites but not by category. I mentioned it as im sure someone had said the channels were not in the correct order? From what I can see everything is where it should be.
