Ive got this guy blagging my head about his line/box and can I sort it. His line kept going off or freezing, so I sent him one of mine and he says its worse than ever. Hes on fibre internet, running basic open atv from what I can make out. Any Ideas what it can be.
 
More info is needed
Is the box wired to the router?
Who is his ISP?
Does he have any general issues with his internet?
Is his connection stable?
 
Sorry!! was home plus but hes tried it with Ethernet cable and no improvement, hes on sly internet, was originally bought from the bay plug and play, thats why I thought it was a line issue, but now it cant be
 
What image is running on the box, ATV or vix?
Has it always suffered from freezing or just started recently?
Is that stupid sky shield rubbish disabled on his account?
 
its atv hes had it 3 weeks running with no major problems just the odd glitch, shield was took off. What about if I just go stick Woosh on it, do you think it could be that. I dunno, but hes rung me twice in last 15 mins, so unless I come up with something quick then its going to be a long day :)
 
Has he tried switching off the box and router for 10-15 mins to give a fresh internet session?
It could be something as simple as that
 
It might be worthwhile getting him to bring the box to you, that way you can rule out if his issues are box/line/network related
 
Its either the box or image but he doesnt want me to reflash. I even flashed my own box to show him with it running barebones and his line run fine. Told him to contact the bloke he got it off, cos cant do no more
 
If I was to flash this box and it still had the same problems can I put the original image on it if I did a complete backup. Whats scaring this guy is the thought of losing his money which I get, but the seller wont know if its been reflashed and then back again will he. Daft question I know but hes even making me nervous, so thought I better ask :)
 
If you do a complete backup before flashing and end up putting the backup back on there is no way the seller will know
 
UPDATE

The box reflashed with no problems at all, it seems to be running as it should. Ive stuck my spare line on, cos his was never going to last. so hopefully no more problems now. Thanks for all your help
