Looking to buy a new mag box

I want to put my Brother onto IPTV via mag box.

He is in another part of the country and I would have to set him up via phone. He is not that IT savvy but is would understand the basics to get the thing sorted out. I have a MAG 254 W1 box which works great with my providers line. (Via URL portal setup).

I was wanting to get a mag 254 box like mine sent to him and I would get a new line from my provider and set him up over the phone. I notice that the 254w1 seems to have been replaced by the 256w1.

1. Are the setup menus the same ?
2. I have noticed some people talking about sound sync issues with the 256. Is this still an issue?
3. Is the 256w1 box faster than the 254w1.

I want to get my Brother set up without any problems, does anyone have experience with both boxes and can offer advice/re-assurance?

The 256 processor is nearly twice as fast as the 254.

I have set a few up, all the menus are the same, never had any problems with them.

Personally I would tend to use a pair of homeplugs rather than WiFi

Why don't you just set it up first with a line then post it to him.

Ok great will set it up using wired direct to hub the same as my 254w1 , but just wanna buy the wireless version for flexibility in the future
