Lost FTP access

Over the weekend I FTP-ed into my box to update some picons etc, and in the process deleted a file in the usr/share directory called updated-by.txt

after a reboot of the box I can no longer FTP into it, getting an error regarding the above file before I can access anything, tried the usual reboot, network settings, restart FTP services etc, different FTP client but no joy, simply cant connect via FTP, I can get in through Putty and OpenwebIf but cant see a way to either replace this file or re-create it, any one else had this issue?

I assume its either a Factory reset or a reflash to get me back up and running?

Can you ssh into the box? It's strange as the file doesn't exist in OpenATV either so presume is Vix specific?
