Microsoft Excel compatibility

I need to use this prog for a few things.
I'm not installing it on my laptop because they charge for it and I'll never use it again.
I can install it free on my smartphone.
If I make some excel files (spreadsheets?) can they be used by others using pc/laptop version if I email them?

Yes they can be viewed on pc/laptop, if they do not have office they can use a free excel reader.

Yes I used that once before.
But are the Libre excel files readable by M$ excel programme?

there are programs that will activate an office licence.

it's a bit of messing, but once it's set you have the full office suite

Yes if you save the Libre Office spreadsheet as Excel97-2003. Or configure Libre Office settings to save all spreadsheets as Excel97-2003.
