Mirai virus on h2s

Received a letter from virmin stating they detected the mirai malware on my connection. I looked for information on it and discovered it seems to be a Linux malware.
I think it may be on my zgemma.
Has anyone experienced this and how can I get rid of it.

Have you opened any ports on your router? Factory reset router then reflash box. Reflash from scratch don't do a settings restore

Yeah. Opened ports to stream externally. Will I need to format the hard drive or just reflash the box

Just flash the box no need to reformat the drive but factory reset router first or your left open to attacks you've learned the hard way why opening ports isn't a good idea hopefully they haven't got your line

Once you have reflashed your box it might be a good idea to make it more secure if you insist on using it for external streaming outside of your home network

It maybe a good idea to ask your provider if they can change your line details incase it's been stolen

A quick question do you have these files at the bottom on root on the box?

Live tv to an app called timote. It was entirely my fault as I hadn't sorted out the security and it was wide open

He wasn't streaming on his box, he was streaming channels from his box.
The main problem being you have to open ports on your router which isn't that bad in itself but combined with leaving the password set to default leaves you open to the sort of thing that happened to get on his box.
