I use Xpel insect repellent wipes when I'm fishing in France.
Ive tried every chemical spray and lotion and potion over the decades, but only these do what they say on the packaging.
Surprisingly they are the cheapest of the cheap, and I've not been bitten in the past 4-5 years since I started using them, dont forget, I'm by a lake in the forest for seven days and nights in hot weather, they work.
One wipe will cover both arms, neck, ears and face, then a second wipe will do both legs if you're wearing shorts.

Has anyone had any luck using zappers on wasps/hornets? Both the handheld and stationary variety.

The handheld hornets can be a pain but the stationary wasps are usually seen off with a sarcastic quip.
