Motorised Satellite for feeds

Hi i live in mid Devon and want to receive cinema feeds for Royal Opera House and New York met. I am interested in using Biss keys generally as a kind of hobby so would want a receiver that is capable of this and being able to record feeds. I am wondering what the minimum dish size would be needed for this and recommended receiver. Ideally would like to install the dish on my house. Does anyone know of a recommended installer in the Devon area. I had a quote from someone a while back at a cost of £850 which included all of the equipment. I would attempt it myself but am pretty rubbish at diy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.

You would need to say a lot more before any advice can be given, what sat are those feeds on, what is new york met, how do you know there are feeds, if your quote included all of the equipment it would say the dish size, receiver and so on. Did you specify you were after feeds? What do youi know about BISS?

And yes it would be a good idea to install the dish on your own house?

Say a bit more

The opera Biss feeds are on 1 west

New york met = New York metropolitan Opera House.

Anyone can use biss, or use biss au stb or e2 plug in.

Will need min 1 mtr dish.

If only want those specific feeds can just set up fixed dish, easily done.

I did a google with this "sat installer devon" and got a lot of hits, just get a few quotes but you should clue yourself up on what you need, either a fixed dish or motorised and the kit you need, eg receiver, and get an idea of the price. WORLD OF SAT did a system with 97cm dish and great value but out of stock.

manic will know all the bits as expert on feeds etc.

I would like to get that e2 plugin for BISS myself and receiverrs that do autoroll and where to buy.

I noticed you had a quote for £850.0 that could mean you are in a difficult area, ie access, trees and cable runs, all takes time and I assume that included all the kit including receiver.

Biss AU on Enigma 2 is not the good its hit and miss.

Stick to the Keyadder plugin and enter the keys on the remote.

I dont recommend a Viark or any Forever box for biss AU either. But keys can also be manually entered on those.

Thanks for all your replies and help. I currently have a 20 year old mini dish attached to my chimney stack. Ideally would like to replace it with a one metre motorised dish. Not sure if a 1 metre dish would be too heavy to attach to my chimney, the reason for this is to try and kerp the wife happy! The quote i had was with a technomate receiver but not from a local installer. Would an Enigma 2 receiver work well with the Keyadder plugin?

I personally would not mount a 1 meter dish on a single skinned chimney breast. Wind loading of that dish in storms could bring the lot down.

I suspect any pro installer would refuse to do it.

An enigma2 receiver is what you would run the keyadder plugin on. It wont work on anything else.

Dont touch a Technomate 5402 mk4 even if it's free.
Trust me

You need to get a bit clued up on what a motorised dish of 1 metre actually involves. I. Its, heavy, 2, it needs clearance, 3, it needs easy access. 4. installer needs to know what they are doing ie you need to tell them.

Here is a pic of a proper install, it wont fall down, it wont i go out of alignment. And here is a video of a diy install.

The difficulty now is getting the equipment as sat is on the way out. All the boxes I use are no longer available and the one I would get now is an abcom pulse 4k se from world of sat, you then need a motor and this is good from wos as well and they do lnb's etc. A pole and t and k brackets is the best way to go.

Technomate DiSEqC 1.2 & USALS Motor

Model: TM-2300 M3.
