Hi Guys not bene on forum for looooooooooong time.

Bought this OTT TV Box MXQ loaded with KODI. I have had nothing but trouble with it. half if it not worknig or it freezes. Time i do manage to start to watch a film i could have gone to cinema, watch it and come back again.
Its so slow. lots of it not working Turks, Fubar, live mix metalliq etc.

Now ive not really played with it but was given simple instructions on how to use ie turn on go to setting link up wifi dearch Kodi ( then susses out a few things myself)

It also has other apps like netflix, but when i go on the app it says something about sign out, and no other screen. Not sure what all the other apps do or if any of them shoudl be touched.android-tv-box-mxq-fully-loaded-with-xbmc-_2_-171-p_1.jpg exact photo via google of the box i have
I hve even had it linked up via ethernet and it still so slow.

ps my broadband is VM ( jsut inacse that makes a difference as i know they ban me from using some sites)

I was about to take it back and get a refund, But hey if you guys can help me get the best use out of it that would be great. Its been a long time since ive "tinkered" with anything.
I got it from a friend hos cousin sells them, apparently no one else has had trouble ecept me. Typical!!!

so any help appreciated guys. thanks

It probably came pre loaded with a load of crap you wont use.

Id do a factory reset of the box.
Install Nova launcher
Install Kodi add ons that you will use

Think it's called web safe on virgin

I know little about MXQ but I find a lot of these boxes are the same. The ROM is thrown together with pretty much zero time dedicated to bug fixing. I've got a similar quad core box and it's currently collecting dust.

If you want a proper good Kodi experience, might I suggest a raspberry pi ? They're not hard to set up.

Yeah raspberry pi is the way to go, whether through many android boxes before sorting out a pi, straight kodi experience with OS libreelec, on 24/7 using little electricity, install wookie build and you will never look back, all updates are pushed automatically

I might check out Wookie build. I use Paradox and find it brilliant.

I've only got limited experience with Android boxes, but they all fall short, especially the knock off ones from China. The modus operandi appears to be, get the ROM just about booting.... Job done. Not good.

You need to spend a bit more money on a more up to date box, most of these boxes are outdated with android 4, 1gb ram & dualcore/quadcore processor, not good enough. Look for a box with at least android 5/6, 2gb ram, & octacore processor.

This being a decent example for less than £50

Will be junk if no time is spent fixing bugs though.

Don't just assume unless you've tried one mate, I've bought four of them for friends & all of them have been spot on & all still working fine with no issues at all.

I can guarantee you its a lot better box than the one mentioned in the original post.

Good to see some companies putting out good boxes. Xiaomi did do some decent hardware, but it's not their bag really.

Libreelec's tagline is "just enough os to get by" its lite, its updated auto regular and doesnt crash

Yeah then a wizard takes the pain out of it, the wizard builder pushes the updates automatically

Libreelec is superb but most people would probably struggle to install it. Ideal for outdated boxes & I would also recommend it.

Yeah I know what you mean, it's all sd formater and windisk32 etc but it's worth it, openelec are more bothered about selling boxes these days

wow thanks guys all a bit over my head tbh :whacko: i bought this box from someone. so no idea what to actually do with it. if i reset it i assume it will loose everything,

Go to settings/ more settings / scroll to bottom
then go to backup reset
I have looked up Kodi and found out that its a FREE download, but its the info you need to put in it. Ive looked at a few YT vids, but to me seems a little confusing. Not dabled in these things for a very long time.
I have been told i can take it back and get my £50 back, or would you suggest i keep it and and try and reset it. Would needs lots of help :)
