I have a friend over in the States that just bought an ONN TV box, I logged in using anydesk to guide him through the steps, and enabled developer options, installed FX and Downloader, went to 'Security & Restrictions' menu and enabled both of them in there (unknown sources), disabled Play Protect/Play Store.
But when we tried to use FX or Downloader to install apps, we couldn't. In Downloader, the error "File Parsing error" no matter what app/code we used, and in FX when we clicked 'enable access' we got "App not found".
Uninstalled and Reinstalled a couple of times re-enabling play store and then disabling it again for play protect.
In the end after over 2 hours, I gave up as I told him it seems to be some sort of bug or something, and I crashed. I am in work now, and he will be online later this evening, around 8 or 9 pm, so I am going to give it another go and see if there is anything else short of a factory reset that I can try, then will factory reset if need be.
Has anyone else had this issue, or heard of it, and does anyone else know how to get past it? It's very frustrating, I am not sure which Android version it is, I will check tonight, but I think Android 14. Is this a sign of things to come when Google locks everything down in September?
