they is a new vix img out called openvix-Helios i have not installed it yet still running a open pli img
this can be downloaded from the openvix site or wos

the info was taken from another site

OpenViX Helios requires a full reflash, you can use a settings backup taken from OpenViX Zeus this time (but not from OpenViX 3.0 or earlier).

So what is different in OpenViX Helios then?

As with OpenViX Zeus the main difference is core of the image or the OE (Open Embedded), this has undergone a lot of changes, updates and fixes (including fixes for the heartbleed bug in openssl). As a user you should not notice any differences between OpenViX Zeus and OpenViX Helios. (i.e. there are no real functional differences.)

OpenViX Zeus build 023 will be the final build in the Zeus series, and so Helios takes over the reins.

But why a new image so soon, you just launched Zeus?

Basically the recent update of the image OE (Open Embedded) to v 2.1, was very significant. This contains substantial changes and updates that mean you cannot use the online update feature from OpenViX Zeus build 023. Rather than asking users not to use the online update function, we have taken the step of changing the image name to ensure that users perform a fresh flash.

good post. although they are just realsing too many images at the moment. none with any huge improvements. people will be re-flashing their box evrey week at this rate.

I find the zeus 023 is much quicker to navigate and change channel. 3 with sky skin was very slow. But not using a skin anymore either.

I wonder my self why the new image? Maybe as loads of bugs?

Zeus was a total rewrite and a new core which is why it had to be a total reflash with no settings backups used, Helios was unfortunately due to a recent merge with the latest OE (Open Embedded), This contained a hell of a lot of fixes including one for the heartbleed bug which in turn affected almost every other part of the image due to dependencies, It was not our plan to make a new image so soon after Zeus but for security reasons we though it better to do the update now rather than be caught with our pants down with this heartbleed bug.

we had to release Helios because after the merge with the new OE it was no longer possible to update Zeus without affecting pretty much every aspect of the image and rather than users ignore our request not to use the online update we decided to take that option out of their hands.

if box is a clone do not use as many clones have been bricked now

It's not the image that's doing that but the Drivers as produced and released by Vu+ them selves. ( possible but not likely ), My money would be on the Chinese them selves as a way to get extra income, how better to do that than a coordinated kill command in the clones so users have to buy new boxes or have old ones repaired at a cost ?.

yes can believe that as other images use vu drivers, now to see if i can find a link for starview cable boxes as you had to buy a new model every few years.i can see people buying chinese clones again thinking great box i must have been unlucky and not doing research into the deeper cause.we shall see what warranty they dont give with new boxes =sorry user error not included.

oh and people wanting the latest image on their clone box!:nolisten:

What with having to pay a little extra to customs, having to buy a new remote rite out of the box and the potential of spending more money shipping it back to china for so called "warranty" repairs, than it cost to buy in the first place, I cant see where people are saving money on these things.

nope pay cheap and pay thrice.they will slowly learn to listen and reearch.

Dont matter how many times we say that or how many scares people have, they would rather buy cheep Chinese muck than save a little and buy something with a real warranty and real support, and funnily enough the worst of them tend to be the old cable brigade.

Sorry guys but if fw works at start how does it brick later? Just so I understand. Im trying to get my head around why the images posted would be bad if they're modded to work on these ibox 2 plus. My box is set like below. If you could tell me if any of it seems to be in conflict I'll try to correct rather than end up wrecking boxs. Like what was the last stable fw for this particular box. But Im still not sure thats even the point youre making sorry.

it is more than likley something to do with the drivers. however, normally if they are bricked it will not boot up the image. try installing a clone safe image.
