New Skybox F3S/F4S/F5S SW with full working EPG Record function!

The update works well.
EPG updates itself...dl the full info etc from Skybox.cc which includes instructions

Recording..........don't turn the box off once you set the time/programme

EPG is about 150mb and a HDD is the best option
 
I am a Newbie so please forgive me,

I carried out the latest update and dumped everything, but I didn't loose anything,

Now when I do a download on United Kingdom in XMLTV EPG it downloads channels and writes back to disc then it failed on EPG download, but when I try a different country it works, so I'm confused, anyone seen this?


Would it be fair to say that the United kingdom is offline at the moment?

I just tried it and didnt have a problem updating, maybe try a different USB stick?

does it need to be formatted in fat32?

I reformatted the 1tb hardrive in NTFS and it worked. Thank God

although I tried to this in a add break and the misses got a little upset when I didn't finish before the adds did.

Thanks for the advice sent me in the right direction.

So let me get this straight... Please bare with me and explain to me in detail if I'm not understanding or that not how it works.

Say I updated f3S and epg is working. Do I need to keep the USB in 24/7 just to get updated epg every time or it's need to be in once for the channel that anyone watch say BBC 1 and I can safely remove USB and the EPG will still be there ? Also can you send me a picture of the EPG Please I'm curious about it... thanks

Do you keep the USB in? If I was to do it can I take USB out once the epg has been downloaded?
 
You need to keep usb in all the time as the epg is stored to usb n if possible get urself a harddrive as a few people have had problems wirh usb's. I had usb in kept getting message device not fast enough plugged hard drive in no probs, make sure u formatt to fats32.

I tried to access the network app which shows the EPG and it would not go further until a USB storage device was plugged in. It seems as though the EPG data will be downloaded to the USB stick and therefore without it, it won't work.

correct, which IMHO is a joke if your using the usb wifi dongle

i chatted to some china contacts i have to pass on to the skybox.cc this and asked could a small flash memory like 20mb be added to a chip for epg onboard

so far no reply
 
I'm new to this, I found the software to download from official site given above so i can put that onto the usb but please tell me how I then upgrade the epg on the skybox itself?
 
file type

ok got software from skybox.cc , the two files are ABS file type , do i just update via usb using misc files ? and can i put those files on the hdd drive i intend recording too and update or does it need to be a flash pen ?

I just downloaded update. Only 1 file in the rar.

So far the epg works and timer record from it works. But there is no data for the movie channels.

Also the picons don't work.

Same here...no picons working. Also, both youtube and youporn apps still stutter for me using this latest firmware. Any thoughts?
 
Got it sorted.

Just out your new SW (abs) file on a USB pen. Go into the menu and go to upgrade by USB. It will see your new image file on there. Then just click ok.

To use Picons, there is another file to download. You will see it on the website. Go to the picons link on the left, then download the file.

Copy that onto a USB pen and plug into the box. Then go to menu again and find picons, then make sure it's turned on. Ya should be using 28.2 in this country :).
