I had hub 3.0 replaced with another 3.0 and now it's not working after few days of installing. Done everything you can imagine. Is there a way round?

Did virgin install the hub?
Have you phoned them to activate it?
They need the mac address, all instructions come with the new hub.
You can't use just any hub as it's locked to your account

I installed it, activated via text, yes I tried to reconnect my old one and that didn't come on at all.

If they supplied a new hub and activated it, you have to use that.
The old one won't work any longer because it's not tied to your account
Why do you want to use the non-working one?

You can only have one working modem in the house.
Throw the old one in a skip and use the one they sent
