What's new

no softcam manager

Now default skin has been updated software update should sort the info not showing in softcam setup as that screen isn't included in KiddaC or chabs skins.

So as above it should use default skin. I can't test it though as my h2h using openatv is upstairs with no tuners connected.

OpenATV have a Developer branch. They are not UK based. They certainly don't have a make my receiver look like a Sky UK/Virgin receiver agenda. Nor would they hinder their enhancements because skins that are not part of the "standard" E2 community.

The skins are made to fit the image changes, not the other way around. The skins need to be adapted. Sadly, it is far easier to abuse the image teams instead of updating skins.

E2 teams won't stop nor wait for skinners. No matter how talented they are. OpenATV are probably the only team that does daily builds. It would have been a one day delay for changes to be included if the skins were part of the normal E2 community. As was done with other skins.
I'm not saying skins shouldn't be updated nor should ATV make it look like sky or virgin, the skins have been developed to work with the current stable release, my (and others) problem is just the way ATV have introduced what appear to be major changes to a stable version rather than including the changes in the beta and releasing them in the next stable release. That defeats the idea of having a version in beta. The only real updates you would expect to any stable release of software are minor or security updates etc not full blown updates that breaks users boxes (in the users eyes) when they run a software update, these update should be in the next released version.

I am not a skin creator and, although I have hacked a couple of area's such as the latest softcam setup screen on a couple of skins, I wouldn't have a clue how to create one.

This is Metrix HD skin using oscam-stable it only shows ecm info no mention of server used.

mgcamd shows the server info etc. Using v skin now seem to show the same info now after default skin has been updated.

OK, it's plainly obvious the oatv team have had a major wobble.
At first people thought it was just a bit of mild tampering but it soon became apparent they were going out of their way to knacker things up for as many people as possible.
They can dress it up any way they like, it's pure and simple tampering in order to cause chaos, no other reason, at least none that carry any weight or make any sense.

My personal opinion is they see wooshbuild infinity and grogbuild freerange as 'freeloading' or these builds are using their image as their own and claiming credit for it but in reality this is nothing like the truth, neither woosh nor grog claim credit or anything along those lines, they're merely enhancements to the image - plugns and easy to use apps etc.
I assumed it was all supposed to be opensouce/freeware?
Has this changed now because i always thought opensource meant anyone can do anything with it? - is this conditional nowadays or is opensource subject to permissions and/or commission? - Are oatv after a payment of some kind? - ask them to send me an invoice then feck off and leave things alone.

Also what's all this shit about making it look like openvix? - no one wants that crap - vix bods aren't going to start using ATV because it looks just as weird, and seasoned openatv folk take one look, think about flashing V 6.0 then find ways around the ugly interface so that they can find a menu that does what it's supposed to

It is opensource, please feel to contribute to it. No image teams ask for payment.

no one wants that crap
As I said, quite easy to start being abusive. ABM is ViX crap by the way. I hope you stop advising people to use the crapware and provide your fantastic piece of work.

I am using simple 1080 with the screen removed. This is the screen using emergency/default/fallback skin. Are you sure it is not a port setting in conf file? ATV uses 83 whereas other configs usually are 8888,

I tried metrix hd and that is working fine too

I'll have to have a proper look when I get chance. I just use the same configs for both ATV and vix so maybe a miss match somewhere

I disagree with most of this.

I don't think they went out of their way to knacker things up more likely hadn't thought about the effects it would have on users when they do a software update.

I really can't see ATV wanting to do away with the builds, they wouldn't benefit from doing so, and as for them thinking the builds are freeloaders, if anyone it's those who charge people to setup boxes for others, ask them for a 'donation' or even sell boxes preflashed with a build preinstalled etc and use all the free opensource stuff in the process and don't donate any of their gains to those that have done the work. ie I've donated a few times to Kiddac as he created the skins used in Grogbuild, even though I am only using his skins personally myself on two boxes I believe he deserves some support and I know, most GB users, if not all have not and will not donate to Kiddac nor ATV. How do I know this? because I know how many (very small percentage of users) donate to Grogbuild and that's in your face on my site and the setup script. The creators of these opensource items don't do it for the money but are normally always out of pocket and need the support of users.

Opensource does mean anyone can do anything to it, although I beleive in some cases can't redistribute depending on the license. I would be wary abour complaining about things being crap, etc especially when you rely on it. Not that long ago an infamous opensource plugin went private because people where complaining lack of updates etc. and giving the team behind it greif. We don't want ATV to go the same way.

The advantage of it being opensource, it means you are free to edit the code and reorganise the menu's how you like if that's what you want to do, it's great.

I have no issues with changes that where made by ATV recently, heck what the ATV team, plugin and skin developers do is amazing and way above my pay grade, I was miffed about the way they released it.
