Openbox v8s keeps freezing

So my openbox v8s was working fine for the first few days now freezing for 30 seconds before working again. Really doing my head in now. As a newbie I really don't know how to fix this problem. Should I reboot the system? If so how do I do this. Any help will be much appreciated as Im slowly going insane

Probably best you power off both router and box, power up the router first and only when fully functioning power up the box from the socket, if still the same have a look at bbc1 hd> press ok and see what (snr) bottom right of the screen, what does it say?

My Internet is fine and I emailed the supplier and he suggested I reboot before he sends me another line

OK I'll do this now after my daughter goes to school

reboot if still a problem , get the other line from your supplier
if still the same with the new line then try a test line out with a different supplier and see if that solves the freezing issue

Your internet will not be the problem in terms of speed, these boxes will run fine with pretty much any provider. A router reboot is advised on a daily basis IMHO. Signal rate will rule out dish alignment, that's why I asked you to check the (snr) on bbc1 hd, it should be at the very least mid to high 80's. Also if you can confirm you are hard wired and not using a wifi adapter?

Yes I'm hard wired. Still waiting to hear off my supplier. Where can I get a supplier who will supply a test line?

My supplier says my box had a slow response. What does that mean?

Means the box is slow to respond to signals sent You can try unplugging the power and unscrewing the coax/cable wire, give it a few minutes then plug everything back in and wait 30 minutes before checking the response times again. Failing that perhaps a new sat box will treat you better, if you've had the box for a long time I'd probably just go with a new one.

It's a new box only had a week. I've got a test line running now and it hasn't frozen once so must be the line I had off the first supplier. Waiting for him to get home from work to sort it out. I will be requesting a N line off him as the first one was a c and is the one that's freezing

My latest supplier told me that N is more stable than C, and up to now i have to agree :)

I've tried 3 different lines. 1 c line and 2 N lines and still freezing. Could it be that I've maybe bought a faulty box???

My Internet connection is fine. Just freezing all the time. Tried everything from updating with USB to moving satellite dish. May have to just give up and go back to sky :(

who are your broadband provider, virgin have a web safe filter and sky have a sky shield, both accessed via your account web page so you can turn on and off
