OScam - pixellation/timeouts

GykuS

Newbie
Hey guys,

hope someone can help ;)

Basics:
Xtrend ET10x
Running the latest version of OpenVix
OScam ver: version 1.20-unstable_svn, build r11225 (mipsel-oe-linux)
N-lines

So I was running MGcamd 1.38 with a couple of n-lines and everytime I went to timeshift it was crashing the receiver, so I have moved over to OScam which was something that I had planed on doing anyway as and when I increased my knowledge (newbie) :)
I have OScam up and running and generally it appears to work fine, timeshift and recording works etc but I am sometimes getting some pixellation during live viewwing. I think it could be down to my configuration requiring some tweaking.

The pixellation seems to coincide with the following entries in OScam.log:

2016/04/26 00:20:48 1DC7C5B5 p (reader) xyz.com1 [newcamd] disconnected: reason inactivity
2016/04/26 00:20:48 0C74CF6F p (reader) xyz.com2 [newcamd] disconnected: reason inactivity

Then seems to reconnect ok:

2016/04/26 00:20:52 1DC7C5B5 p (reader) xyz.com1 [newcamd] connecting to xyz.com1.me:10000
2016/04/26 00:20:52 0C74CF6F p (reader) xyz.com2 [newcamd] connecting to xyz.com2:10001

Appears to work ok, if I use the same lines in CCcam.

Has anyone encountered this issue? Should I post my amended my config files?

Thanks

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to test on the sat line yet as I've got to run some coax through to that room. I can test on a receiver in the other room that has both feeds tonight though.
But I'm guessing it will if those timeouts in the logs are relevant.

Well, I'm having the same issues just now on my ET8000 but my log doesn't say the same as yours. My Sat lines are fine that I can tell and running my cable lines in Mgcamd again is helping a lot. It will be interesting to see how your Sat is.

Mine was actually a bit worse than it is right now. Now I get the pixellation every so often. in oscam.conf what are your clienttimeout & clientmaxidle values set to?

I'm at work just now - mind me to check tonight. What channels do you find the worst??? I'm noticing BBC interactive and Heat as my worst ones.

I've mostly noticed on the sports channels, although it's not been up and running long. I'll check the sat channels after work to see if they are also affected.

Ok mate, cheers. My sports are ok 99% of the time. I'm thinking mines is maybe still signal related though as I've not long had 2 cable tuners. Please also check your Heat and BBC interactive channels! :)

Gmangt4??? Stop looking on not saying anything! I know you want to :)

Leader, I know what you're saying but the WOS forum always recommends 'oscam-latest' which as you say, calls itself 'unstable'. I tried the older version and it didn't help me out anyway but my problem may well be signal related. ..

I was thinking that when I installed it, the name didn't inspire confidence but then I thought well this is the latest so must be ok :)

I'll try with the older one that presents itself (I just use plugins manager in Vix). Any particular version that you guys can recommend?

My SNR for cable is excellent, so hopefully that's not the issue.

There are no stable versions of Oscam nearly every version since it started is classed as unstable as each build has fixes from the previous version as well as new items added

Those 2 values have no bearing when your using Oscam as a client only emulator, they are for Server use

Make sure on the user section in oscam you have the keepalive: option ticked

Thanks,

I wasn't entirely sure. I read a lot of threads where people were having problems and some of them had client server setup and experiencing issues on client side.
I guess that's where the recommendation to change those values is applicable.

bangord30 - sat seems totally fine, just cable affected.

Should I have not posted those amended configs, seems to have gone a bit quiet on this thread! :concern:

I'm out tonight sorry. Interesting your Sat seems fine though too! Try the 2 channels on cable I said? My ecms can max out at 10k on them! ;)
