Hello,
First post here, you seem like a knowledgeable bunch so hopefully somebody can help.
I've got an Openbox V8S, which in addition to the satellite function, I was hoping to use as a bit of a media hub for music and films from my hard drive. But I'm unable to play mp3 or MKV files. The MKV files will play the audio with no picture and give an error message, and the mp3 files will show all the song details, title, length etc, but will not play.
I spoke to my provider and they think the box should be able to play these files, but in the spec sheet for the box it just states 'multimedia' without specifying what file types it will play.
It seems a bit odd to me that it wouldn't play MP3, with that being quite a popular music format! MKV is not so much of an issue as I don't have much in that format, but my entire music collection is in MP3, so it would be nice to be able to play it!
So can anybody advise if this box should play these files? And if not as standard, is there a way I can update/upgrade it to do so?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
John
