hi guys . newb here ,, introduced myself earlier in the early hours and had a good read around
i currently switch between sky and vm after 12 month contracts to get a the best deals
im (june) coming to the end of my sky contract and would have been ringing vm to have me back :-)
that was until i seen a mates zgemma in action
so maybe its time i took up ths option ( in all honesty have seen people with kodi etc etc and always thought the picture/freezing etc etc was garbage. hence always stuck with the main players )
but the zgemma was a different story and something i could deffo live with .. i know there will be problems at some point . as you guys seem a real nice bunch and seem to help with most probs . maybe it is the time to jump ship
right so as you know i have both sky dish and cable available
1st question is . do i need to subscribe to a basic package to get a feed in to the house ??
2nd which box would better suit my need sky/vm . i like to record series links as i work nights
3rd mainly i watch sports . so that has to be the 1st priority
4th i dont have a pc or laptop at home only an ipad , so would need a box that doesnt need pc support , and fully loaded /up and running on purchase
5th i take it broadband would have to come form a supplier (vm) best option ?
im sure theirs plenty more ive missed , and other things to take into consideration
thanks and sorry for the essay

Yes, basic package or their broadband, either will work.

Might be better off going for a slightly more expensive box but with twin cable tuners as satellite card sharing is in doubt at the moment. You'll get HD sports on cable though.

You're better off setting one up yourself but if that's not an option due to lack of PC then you can at least load a line using an iPad.

And yes you'll need internet connection to the box.

If you can get vm thats what you should go for as you will get HD channels the box you will need if going for a zgemma is a H2H with this box you can have both sky and cable running from the same box and you can also record with a zgemma H2H. All you need for sky is your dish and broadband you dont need a tv package with vm if you get vm broadband.

so in a nutshell i take virgin broadband ..and im pretty much sorted ??
if my zgemma is connected to vm why would i need to also connect it too sky dish ? dont you already get all channels connected to vm ?

You could always buy the box hook it upto the vm feed into your house and run a scan.
If your virgin area is not oversubscribed and your lucky you might find they have not actually disconnected you in the cabinet and you still have a feed.

If you take bb you would get all chans, some debate on if Ppv will work or if that was a glitch in the last WWE event. You would buy a cable box no dish required or a box that does both and hook a dish for free sat or add a sly line whilst they still work

what box would you advise for twin cable tuners ? and whats the advantage of this over the zgemma ?

You can record one cable channel while watching another. And once you've seen HD you won't want to go back to SD.

Yes with virgin broadband you will be sorted, (why would i need to also connect it too sky dish) You don't need to but you get some channels on sky that you don't get with vm and if one go's down you alway's got the other

1. If you are keeping your VM broadband, then you will have a live feed.
2. Up to you to decide on whether you want Sky or VM, Sky subs are substantially cheaper, but they don't have HD, VM do. When you make that decision, Which box is a matter of budget, we can't set that for you.
3. Sports are on both setups, only HD in VM, SD in SKY.
4. I hate apple, I can't won't answer this. Fully loaded? - Don't do it, buy your box and line separate, they are a piecs of pish to set up.
5. Get your broadband from wherever you wish, however, if you can get a good deal from VM, keep them as that ensures your connection is live.

Wheelo

would i need a seperate line for sky if added or does same line do both ?

everything is with sky at mo . but come june im going back to vm , so will take the phone and broadband back to them ,, if they throw tv in for free too bonus..but now understand that this isnt required :-)

so really apart from a few sky channels .. would the extra cost of another line be worthwhile ?

No not relly, If you dont watch the few channels that sky give then go with just a vm sub, But have a look into iptv also, With iptv you get all uk hd channels + 3pm kick off and 50 other sports channels from all over the world

how does the iptv work and what is the cost of these ? how easy is changing from your vm line to the iptv etcetc
this is all new to me ,, i think the dual vm sounds something i would be interested in ,, what box whould be good for this ? what sort of money we talking ? and does one line do both dual ? god i bet i sound like a reet turnip lol

IPTV can run on a zgemma box fine i got mine on my zgemma h2s, IPTV works using internet only so you would just need to put your internet wire in your box and thats it, Setting the iptv up on the box is very easy and Techkings are here to help if you need it

thanks for info .. so is the iptv further hardware ? or something you downlaod/add to your current box(zgemma) ?
if i whent down the route of getting a dual vm would the iptv still apply ?
and still one question unaswered ,, do i need 2 lines for a dual vm box or does one line do the job ?

You will need only one line for a twin tuner cable box, No you dont need IPTV to have a VM sub but you can have both iptv and vm on the same box. IPTV works the same way as the others you will need a sub
