Poor remote control response OpenATV or VIX image

Hi all,

Been generally pleased with my ZGemma S2 box but the remote control response (or lack of it) is driving me crazy! Tried both images in downloads, results the same.

Firstly, when box powers on from standby it is unresponsive to the remote for what seems like several minutes. Finally, when it does start responding it has a very poor range (I'm less than 3M from TV), and seems to need the remote to point directly at the box to get any response. Tried new batteries of course. I know signal is getting through as I have an all in one remote power strip and that receiver flashes indicating it is receiving signal from the ZGemma remote.

I've configured HDMI to mirror back TV remote commands and these work straight away, but of course not all ZGemma button functions are available on the Sony TV remote.

Any help/guidance would be much appreciated as this is spoiling my enjoyment of what otherwise is a good receiver.

Thanks

Steve

You got your Router nearby by any chance? been known to mess with the remote control response if its too close to the zgemma and prob any other electrical interference from other appliances

Definetly your setup. The zgemma remote is pretty good. I have a set of wireless head phones that cause mayhem with eveything. Sounds like something is interfering with it.

my remote on mt zgema 2s was also very poor, the new remote on the H2S is so much faster, so you weren't on your own with a poor 2s remote!

Thanks for replies so far. My router is in a different room so shouldn't be that. Anyway remote is infra red, line of sight. The TV, Media Box and other device IR remotes work just fine, and as I said, the power saver strip that turns everything off together is receiving the ZGemma signal as it has LED that flashes indicating IR signal. Seems there is something locking up the IR commands in box for first 1-3 mins. Strange that HDMI remote signals get through from TV as I'd expect these to be affected too, but no, just IR commands.

Is there anything in the VIX setup that could affect response in the first 1-3 mins after coming out of standby? I only really use to watch TV and stream movies via TSMedia. Any plugins or other features that consume CPU cycles that I can disable?

Do you have a lot of autotimers set for recordings as this will start running checking the shedules everytime you boot up and slow the box down. I leave my box on 24/7 and it runs like clockwork.

Thanks for reply - I leave in Standby overnight (Red power LED) - you suggest leaving on (green power LED)? I do have some recordings set so will try leaving on.
