I have one in my workshop they are great even on a single bar which is low heat output.

Proper heat unlike electric devices. They will heat a small room no problem as for smell only if the pilot light goes out and the gas is still on
first can £106 for new one , last question will last month in winter out lot house lot more in summer ,id never have it on in summer may -oct , warm flat in summer baltic winter. old church. thanks your a good man

Go and buy a few pairs of joggers, I get them from cheapo shops @ £8 ish for a pair.
I wear them under my jeans, totally invisible and they save a fortune on heating.
I wear them from October to March and have done for past three years, I reckon I save £150 each winter on heating bills. My bro-in-law thinks I'm a miser, he sits around in underpants in December with heating on 35C while mine is on 18C and I'm warmer than him. He pays three times as much as i do and I'm comfortable all the time.

plenty of remote properties now using diesel heaters, cheap to buy and runs legally on red diesel

Just something to bear in mind:
Portable bottled gas (LPG/butane) heaters commonly cause damp, condensation, and mould.
They emit roughly 1 litre of water vapor for every kg of fuel burned, which settles on cold surfaces, windows, and walls. Proper ventilation is critical to prevent moisture buildup, which can cause significant dampness.
