Hi All,

Re; Connection Protocol

On the free Proton VPN on Firestick, which settings do you use?
Mine is currently set to automatic smart, in respect of the connection. Is this the best? I do get the odd buffering, so I reconnect to a different server within Netherlands. I predominately use Netherlands as the server host.

Think the other options are:

Select Smart (protocol),
WireGuard,
IKEv2,
OpenVPN

i would stick with smart (auto).

The free version doesn't access the faster servers, so it's not gonna be optimised for streaming.

I once had Surf for a year. That was good.

I find with this, I have to change server every 3/4 hours to stop any buffering that occurs down the line,

I pay for the vpn, Ive not really had any issues with it, although I don't use it all the time, but have no complaints.

Is proton still deemed one of the best? I note that sometimes it is blocked accessing some free overseas catch-up services, but it depends on the server.

Proton VPN free tier does not officially support streaming. It may work, but they don't officially support it, and the speeds are slower so it may cause buffering. I would recommend a paid VPN.
