Hi,

I am trying to set up a couple of boxes for a mate, he has a teenage son, so you can guess whats next lol

They will both have openbox V8s in different rooms.

If I do a channel update over the network it brings in the porn channels, how do I block them ?

Do I have to go back to USB method as the network only seems to give me the full list of channels.

Ahhhh will ya leave the poor lads alone haha

Being serious, I would definitely update with CWAITES non adult list.

I always use this list when updating for friends :P they cant directly ask where the porn channels are gone XD
 
Yeah, I know about using the USB method and C Waites but I always get told off by the reaper
as some USB sticks can brick the box. 👍

Use parental code and change often---start code is 0000 so now change eg 8547 it takes ages to go thru all the codes plus you can also change your master code for menu access just to add to the fun.

Just posting to let anyone else know about how to lock up the porn channels.

Menu button

Go to System Setup - Parental Lock

Set Menu Lock and Channel Lock to "on"

Set a new password instead of 0000

The reason for locking both the menu and the channels is that if you update the channel list over the network
the lock that you are about to put on, will come off the Adult Group if you allow a new channel list to be loaded.

Go to

Edit Channel - Channel Edit

Red Button (Group) - Favorite - Scroll down to the Adult Group - OK

Green Button (Option) - Select All - OK

Right button and lock the channels.

Finally, one last question, I have set XMLTV EPG to Auto update, does this update every night like E2
boxes or have you got to go in every now and again and press the red update button ?

All that effort bees and the lad will just get his phone out for the jimmy Vaughan lol

As for the XMLTV i just put my lads in standby of a night and it does seem to update but every now and again needs the red update button. (maybe once a week)
 
My eldest cracked the code by using my pc to locate this site and the post giving the master code---he showed his younger counterpart how to put code in and then reset--we had no idea for months.lol
Kids are more savvy on gadgets nowadays------so the easiest method of restriction is to delete the naughties but then bang goes your fun, so who wins ?---those bl***dy kids, as usual.LOL

Mate kids are hacking big companys these days a bit of porn is exuse the punt childs play lol
 
Good thing about this method is you know they will look for them
and spend hours trying to work out the pass code.

So near but yet so far lol

I was thinking of setting it to his date of birth just for a laugh lol
