Recording to a NAS.. my tale of woe

Right, tried setting up nas recording to my Synology NAS and can't get it to work.

So I've created a new directory in the nas specifically for recordings, then managed to 'mount' (despite quite a few attempts). The mounts manager - mountspoints management menu seems to shows its mounted successfully as theres a tick in the 'active' box.

However, when I go to recordings/timeshift menu and try to change the default location, I see the directory, but it says its an invalid location and I can't change it.

Any ideas?

Just highlight the folder you want to record to and press green button, don't go into it.
Middle pic is showing shares but not mounted (red cross on drive icon) - bottom pic is properly mounted shares.

Managed to get it working after a few tries. Not sure exactly what setting i changed but i deleted and restarted a new mount and used your settings Willo. Seems to be recording and playing back ok.

btw the way whats the difference between fstab and autofs? I only ask cos someone else posted there settings and it was autofs.

The difference is that I couldn't get autofs to work!
fstab mounts the shares permanently when you boot up, autofs mounts them as required I think.

If you look at the bottom pic in post #14 you can see that you can map your shares to the coloured buttons in the file list.

I have default h2s / whoosh build settings, as it's a fresh install...

16gb usb plugged into the back of the box, no micro sd card...

Tried all the settings mentioned here and am always met with either... location does not exists or choose a writable location etc.

I see you have

/Media/Net/TV

Mine always seems to go to /Media/Autofs/

Is that an issue I wonder?
