Hi i am using a desktop with xp, using the same equipment ive used to bring a old f5 back to life, rs232, erom 2.0 and 2.1 various firmware, but theres no power to the box at all. not even when i plug a ethernet cable in to see if the lights light up, tried the box on my other f5 working power lead to rule out faulty power adapter etc. Press next to flash and i get the message, stb memory error, Click "Back" to try again.

If you can get that message then there is hope-----not sure what files you are using but this one should restore the box if no major fault other than bricked.

Tried that file m8 still getting that same "set stb memory error" think its fooked. Drives you nuts !! One thing does the port com1 on the pc have to say the same as what it says in the erom, bits rate 115200, parity even ?

Baud rates can be just about any value within reason. The only requirement is that both devices operate at the same rate. One of the more common baud rates, especially for simple stuff where speed isn’t critical, is 9600 bps. Other “standard” baud are 1200, 2400, 4800, 19200, 38400, 57600, and 115200.
The higher a baud rate goes, the faster data is sent/received, but there are limits to how fast data can be transferred. You usually won’t see speeds exceeding 115200 - that’s fast for most microcontrollers. Get too high, and you’ll begin to see errors on the receiving end, as clocks and sampling periods just can’t keep up.

I have only had my skybox f5s a day when it came a lot of the channels didn't work so I tried to update and now it is stuck on load, does this mean everythin is now wiped as it was already loaded with menus, favs, and channels, will doing this upgrade will wipe all that or will it still be on after upgrade. and also I have a 12month gift on it with this still be on it

There are 2 files on the opening post, you may have a clone of a clone of clone of a clone, in which case use the other file.

Hi my f5 has been great for over a year and now all of a sudden it's stuck on load.
My F5S bricked this morning after uploading the latest AJs Sat List. LCD is stuck on LOAD. I am pretty certain my box is genuine and its only 5 months old.
My PC has a Z87X Mobo and this has no Serial Port. Neither does my laptop. So my first question is can I use a USB to RS232 lead instead? In not, then I might as well return this box as I cant attempt to recover it.
If I can, do I flash it with the latest firmware? or the file in the download at the start of this 35 page long thread?

Hello all, firstly thanks for posting such detailed information. I have been at it for a few days now on a Skybox F5 which displays nothing, but has a flashing ethernet port. I have tried everything to no avail - unfortunately I simply cannot get passed the set stb memory error. The cable is correct, I've tried all the loaders with all the .abs files from the skybox website with timings ranging from 0 to 60 seconds in 5 second intervals. I am on the verge of giving up, is there anything else left to try? Thanks again.
