Revert to old style download manager in Firefox 20

One of the new changes in the latest Firefox update I dislike is the new download manager. I don't care for the way that it displays the information, or lack thereof, and actually prefer the older method that could open in a separate window. After some looking around, I found the method to revert the downloader to the old style and it worked very well. Thought I would pass it on to anyone interested.


  1. Enter the configuration settings of firefox by typing the following in the address bar: about:config
  2. Confirm that you indeed will "Be careful" lol
  3. Navigate to the item labeled: browser.download.useToolkitUI
  4. Change the setting of this item from "false" to "true"
  5. Enjoy
 
Nice to know one has the option ferg 👍

My biggest issue since moving to v20 is that the Photobucket uploader ad-on no longer works and it was such a handy one.
I hope the developer sorts it.

The Photobucket uploader Ad-On has been fixed and is working again :)
