It is possible. Some people use dream player (I think I got that right) as a standalone app on the Fire stick and use that. However I think this is £4.99 for the full version (the limited version only allows the first few channels of each category)
I personally use kodi. There are lots of guides out there but from what I remember it's very simple to set up. I just put my favourite channels in the favourite bouquet so that it doesn't spend an age losing every channel
