Samba HDD - is it possible?

Ive been reading through some threads on here today and ive seen a suggestion of having a usb stick to hold epg/picons/and ABM and a seperate powered HDD for timeshift and recordings.

At the moment im using a spare 500GB external usb 2.0 powered HDD that ive attached to the back usb port. I have 2 NAS drives that i have on my network that i use in conjuction with 3 kodi boxes throughout the house that store bluray/dvd rips and also Genesis links to movies/tv shows to make up the shared library across those 3 boxes.

My question is, is it possible to have the zgemma use one of those HDDs as my external HDD for timeshift/recordings via samba protocol? And if it us possible i dont want to initialise it as it would mean that the contents on it would be wiped.

Or is it better to buy another networked drive and use it seperatley for it so that i dont accidently delete my already extensive kodi library?

Check your network settings, there should be an option to mount a network share, I don't think you need samba enabled to allow this. You don't need to initialise, just change location where recording happen.
