Hi

Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. I have had Starview boxes in the past and they were quite easy to set up. Because of recent cable issues I am thinking of going down the sat route.

I've been going through the posts in Techkings trying to get some info on how it all works and to be honest I am struggling to understand the info being shown. what's a C Line etc, etc?

Apologies for being a total thicko but is there a post / thread which gives a total novice the info they need to start understanding what they have to do, and also how.

you buy a satbox which is flashed and you scan the sat for channels,but loads of them are encrypted,the line is the important bit which there will be a fee depending what you want sd or hd as fees differ.others can advise of good ones as in good quality.
 
Dreambox are quite cheap and easyish to set up, im understanding is a cline connects you to a c/s server which you pay for hence unscrambles payfor channals lots of guides and people here to help set up your dreambox,took me a full day of reading but once you learn the basics its quite easy,the dreambox does lots more than just show channals if you got the paitence to read and learn ;)
 
i use sky ive two dishs with hd down stairs becaues im now out of work i cant pay the big money for sky thinking of going down thr road of dreambox iv got broadband so what do i need to do and best box to buy ...please help lol i use to flash the cable boxes no prob so a box not to hard to flash would be nice
 
spiderbox is the way very good easy to set up plenty of options plus gift with the box comin back on loads of channels plenty for everyone

I've a dreambox and it works great.

I can't comment on how the setup was like as it was all done for me, but to be honest, when it comes to the Ccam stuff i'm stuck. Don't quite know what its for, but all I know is that it works now. Using it with a WiFi Bridge to connect to the net. :) The box is pretty small too..

one thing about dreambox is clones and using correct images,also boxes can run hot and may need extra cooling.
