Hi Community

I am a new member and have been reading through the Skybox Forum. I like the forum and would like too contribute to the community by doing some tutorials and wanted to start a discussion on the SkyBox Lan (Ftp) tool. I am interested in your experience using this tool. I like this tool as it gives a more convenient way of updating/backing up the box if you are an interested in trying different configurations without have to use flash drive option, and offers a remote support element to the box. I am going through some tests and having mixed results. I would like to know if anyone has had problems with the LAN tool corrupting there box. I cannot prove it yet but when I updated the channel list with the tool it has given me problems. Anyway any responses would be grateful. I will keep an eye on the thread and use the reply's as a source for a tutorial

The LAN tool will corrupt clone boxes---proved many times by many people.
The LAN tool can also brick boxes if corrupt file download used or inept operator but it's simplicity itself if used correctly with correct files and correct boxes.
There are different LAN tools for original and clones, different files and different download sites.

Thanks for input Tich. I had read this post and is the exact issue I had, but unfortunately I was unable to reslove my problem with lan tool or RS323 method. It would be good to hear if many people have experienced this issue so we can warn people about the risk. I have only tried too update channel list not an image. Afraid to test on another box

Thanks for the info, I will try and gather the different firmware and see if I can unbrick. I will document and post if I can be successful.

Hi

Just to let you know I sorted out the Bricked skybox f5 caused by lan tool. It is down to the file constant.cw file corruption via ftp tool. Have to say a big thanks to all who helped. The post below by Theboss85 the issue. I want to keep this thread alive as I want to to some full testing to try and recreate the bug and do a guide. Not long in the forum is there someone I can submit the guide to as a possible sticky as this bug bricks the box and want to warn and share with others. I want to do some proper testing and try and re-create the bug, and do a guide. I want to use the FTP tool so there must be a way not to corrupt the box anyway thanks too all that contributed and please keep experiences of FTP coming so I can add to guide if revelant

****POST THAT RESLOVED*****
ust to add I tried adding specials files using LAN tools. Big mistake!

Had to start over again.

I started with the oldest firmware then copied over blank copies of constant.cw and the ccam file as they need to be blank.

Once this was done I put Ajsat list on using USB not LAN tool. And worked.

Then updated to latest firmware via USB too and then the special file Via USB and I did it with LAN tools before and It just messed up the box again.

So do everything via USB.

Now I have a fully working box with 7 day epg and Picons :)
