Smart DNS

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a decent enough smart DNS service. Haven't used one in a while but my VPN is no longer fool proof with some services whereas I've been told Smart DNS is a lot better. Is Getflix still the best these days or are there many others? I did try a trial of Control D a few months back but wasn't too pleased with the speed of some servers as it was buffering quite a bit.

Dns4me,ControlD,Ironsocket ,Getflix are all very good but it really depends on what you're trying to unblock In my experience the only service that has worked 100% is not smart dns it's mysterium vpn

Yes as said you really need to say what services you will be using as like a VPN not all Smartdns options unblock the same services. .

Thanks both. I mainly use Paramount+ US and Sling TV at the moment.
In which case you have a fair few options usually most open the US apps..just checked mine and both getflix and ironsocket work on sling..don't have paramount to check but would think that would work to.

Agree with these recs - I use dns4me and ControlD at the moment, and also have Getflix but use less now that I don’t use Optus Sport anymore

Controld has been fantastic up until now but this season I've not been able to connect to Setanta Eurasia and starplus in South America. Flags all options up as VPN. Any ideas on DNS/VPN that will work with those services? Tried Getflix but doesn't reach those countries.

I have accounts me multiple DNS providers and I can honestly say that my go to is now mysterium vpn. This is my opinion only, but I think a lot of these providers are having their IP addresses blocked by content providers as they become more and popular. I think that's why Control D have added the wording best effort on their website, as it's getting harder to stay one step ahead of geo-blocking

I have tried a lot of Smart DNS'es and will let you in on my experience. Ironsocket is the worst product ever - 90% of the channels doesn't work but they are honest enough, returning payment as promised. ControlD has a nice channel lineup and most channels are working - just a pity that the streaming quality is quite shitty. Streamlocator works well, just a very small channel offering. Got the Getflix lifetime, but number of supported channels decrease and decrease and I have never been able to watch any Flix - despite their name. DNS4me is working fine - just a small number of supported channels that keeps decreasing - seems that when channels fall out they are just removed from the lineup. SmartDNSProxy is working well with a decent number of supported channels - streaming quality varies a lot - never been able to watch any Flix, even though they claim it's working. Last but not least I will mention smartstreaming.tv - a service with an unprecedented number of supported channels and a nice streaming quality - does Setanta, Starplus, Netflix - just to name a few - by the way - it's free.

Thanks for the feedback...dns services like vpns are different in terms of what services they unlock and quality...its trial and error to find the right one for services you use..

Regards smartstreaming.tv be careful a few in group I am on used the service and were getting emails when they tried using vpns etc and got advised to use his dns which made us wonder how was he getting the info? I would defo tread with caution. Seemed to get rude and insist on using his service only

It's free - has been free for years - but they write that payment is going to happen pretty soon.
I remember getting an email from the owner earlier this year saying that services like tod.tv are paid only i didn't initiate any contact he or she contacted me out of the blue I didn't take it any further

Yes he charges for specialist services eg those that are difficult to unblock...which is fair enough as making them available to all free would mean the powers that be would block them.

To me he came across as a one man band setting this up and had access to who was using his service to extent he would email users. Did not come across as very secure or a service I could trust with my data.

Contacted out of the blue?? Guess you signed up with your e-mail. Anyway it's correct that access to TOD isn't free (anymore - has been). It's stated on the site that TOD is going to become billed by traffic usage.

I don't remember signing up to any email list, and I've never received any other emails from the site going back years
