And now every channel freezes for a second every 30 or so seconds. I think Ill upload the original one before I mess things up.
Ran some tests and can conclusively say that once I have uploaded the newly populated text file with epg codes, it causes any channel I go onto, to go black screen for a few seconds before coming back on. This occurs every 30 or so seconds, and on every channel I test it on. When I load the original m3u it no longer happens. So, I have two options: Go back to a bad epg, or have a good epg that cuts off channels every 30 seconds :(.
Is this a known issue? Could it be a memory issue perhaps?
UPDATE: I added codes to a fresh txt file a few at a time to test if/when the problem arises. My thinking was maybe with memory in a TV it was becoming overloaded and to find a possible saturation point. But, to my joy its been so far so good. I have added dozens and the freeze hasnt happened. I think maybe it was a mistake in putting the codes in the first time. So I can confirm that maddad's technique works a treat for adding EPG to SmartIPTV....Just take care in entering codes. Thanks to maddad, and all who commented!

yes that's right just add your epg codes.
you don't need to convert it back to m3u. you can upload that file.
