Any android based TV would be better than a smart tv as not all smart TVs has an app store or can't sideload apps on most

get a good tv and then just get a firestick and stick whatever app you want on there.

100% agree with this, concentrate on getting a decent TV - don't limit yourself to one that has an appstore. Get yourself a 4K Firestick and you won't look back 👍

I use a samsung tv great for what you need but there is an issue with the wifi connection on some models ..use plug ins no problems at all
