SMB From Windows

Hi all. I have my H2S only a few weeks ago. Its a great box so far but I want to make it more useable for the rest of my family. They're not the biggest fans of it in tems of playing back recorded shows. I have a plex server in the house also. What I would like to do is access the external drive I have attached to my H2S remotely from my windows server.

So far I have 2 options:
1. Continue using my 1tb usb drive and attempt to access through the H2S
2. Use an old NAS box I have lying around but I only have a 320gb drive I can put in that. I also have the added hassle of I can't access that remotely for some reason at the minute but I'm guessing thats a setting I just haven't sorted out but for the sake of these options lets assume I have that problem fixed.

Of the options, 1 would work out best for my current setup.

Can someone let me know if its possible and if so, how.

Thanks.

If you are using openvix Have you tried the dreamplex plugin. This will connect to your Plex server.

Thanks but that the wrong way around. I don't want to view my plex server on the box. I have a smart tv. What I want to do is put my recorded shows on to my please server. While that in itself is simple enough by removing the files from the H2S but ideally i just want to access the storage from the H2S from my windows machine so my plex server can access the files.

I have my recordings go straight to my Plex folder which is on a HDD connected to my router. I can then access them from lots of sources that are connected to my network. i.e..Laptop. iPad etc.
You need to mount your Recording HDD from the network settings on the box. (menu/setup/system/network/mounts setup)Make sure samba is activated on the box

Thank you. I follwed your instructions, kind of and I spotted the Samba settings. Its all up and running as a share on my server and Plex has indexed my folders. Thanks very much for your help!

1 final question on this. Each recording makes about 4 other files. I know they're small and so don't really matter in terms of space but can these be deleted safely?

no these files are used by the zgemma / enigma 2 for metadta for the recording and also time and seeking the file from within the gui, if deleted the file will still play on the zgemma but willhaveno additional info like what program it is or any details about your program

*.ts

*.eit
file with the EPG info and audio channels info
*.ts.ap
video cut file, for the cut plugin
*.ts.meta
meta info, used for the display of the movie list
*.ts.cuts

*.ts.sc
file with info for cutting the movie with the MovieCut plugin.
This file stores several informations about the recorded movie.
E.g. it includes the cut positions for the MovieCut plugin, or structure info about the .ts files for improved fast forward/rewind.
This file is mandatory, without it the movie cannot be played without problems.
