Many years ago i had solar panels on roof fitted for heating up hot water

Now after a good many years i hear they might need a service as that company wanted a fortune to service it.

Gauge in hot press says 67c but dont get any hot water to shave.

HAVE you heard if plumbers service these panels on roof , refilling with antifreeze and putting pressure back into the system.
 
One thing i dont remember been told when getting thermal panels was they need to be serviced every 5 years and got a reply on service.

Our 1.5 hour solar service is €300 including vat.

The service includes:

System check for any leakage,
Controller parameters checked and adjusted where required,
Electrical connections checked,
Old glycol removed from system and disposed,
New solar glycol flushed through the system,
Pressure vessel checked and recharged.

Now i have a starting point and is cheaper than the supplier who installed the system.
 
Came at 8am and they drained and flushed the system , interesting no sound from the pump like before but will monitor it.
Dirty coolant and pressure was down to 0.5 bar.

Must of been clogged with years old coolant. How long did you say it was since you had it installed?
 
2010 installed but removed maybe 8 years ago to get 60 year old roof tiles replaced with new.
Refitted after new roof was done. nice to have silence and pump not waking me up now.
 
So maybe we’ve 5 years you need to be looking at getting the maintenance and coolant change. Guess it’s like anything, if you keep it maintained it will last and give you good efficiency
