He's probably going to claim diminished responsibility. I don't think he has a chance of pulling that off.
He booked a taxi to the location and wore a mask.
Ergo he knew what he was doing, he also knew what he was doing was wrong, otherwise he wouldn't have put the mask on in an attempt to avoid detection, mad people don't try to run away or avoid getting caught because they don't know what they're doing.

Whether he is found mentally ill or not.
He may never divulge the real reason behind his actions unless he has left evidence of his plan and the reasons behind it.
Also we have to rely on the authorities releasing the real reason behind his attack if they find it.
Lately they are good at saying that attacks and incidents are not terror related.

When the Bulger killers were found guilty they were only 11, all the details were released.
But they were white, and as you said, they may hold back reasons and motives based on a fear of causing civil unrest. Even though the civil unrest has already begun.
The Airport idiots last week, and others like them, don't realise what they are doing when they try being Johnny bigballs on the internet, it just stirs up trouble, then when something serious happens, the bricks start flying

It is up to the Judge to decide to lift reporting restrictions if he feels that the public interest overrides the interest of the defendants.
Which he did in the James Bulger case.
We will see what happens in the case as it unfolds in the coming months.
I feel that rioting won’t achieve anything or change anything.

I only know about what was reported at the time.
I never really looked at any present day material.
I can’t fathom out how two children could torture and bludgeon a small toddler.
Pure evil.
I've got to say, I blame social media for a lot of the false narratives and social issues caused over the past two weeks. I despise these companies (Facebook/Twitter, etc) as their number one goal is to promote messages/tweets that have the highest engagements so users stay on their platform and help generate them revenue from advertisements.
Out of interest I've opened Twitter to see what is being promoted and it's nothing but full blown right wing propaganda. I've seen a few messages where they are claiming there was a Muslim with a knife going around Southport last night wanting to re-create the stabbings. They use this as the excuse that the riots kicked off.
If I was a meddling enemy state (Russia/China) then I would be creating messages that provoke violence and civil unrest in these communities that are dealing with tragedy. There is plenty of lies and misinformation being spread about the issues over the past couple of weeks. Why is nobody condemning the social media platforms for promoting this kind of material? They are only interested in revenue and not "the truth". Too many people buy into these lies and cause even more social misery in these communities.

It's been going on for years, Nicola Bulley fell into a river and drowned but that didn't stop the armchair detectives making up all kinds of shit and even going up there to look for her and accuse various local people of being murderers.
Jay Slater disappearance was the same type of thing, keyboard warriors making up crap as they went along and everyone believed it, then they added their own bit and passed it on.

Nobody seems to police social media companies, probably because they’re owned by influential multibillionaires.
People who use social media are blind to the fact that they are the product and are being manipulated.
The truth is a hard thing to find nowadays with how easy is to spread disinformation by using social media and as you said can be used as a weapon by enemy states like propaganda.

i think everybody is missing the point here it was 3 children that was killed the person who dunnit should be given the death sentence asap i dont agree with the death sentence but in this case here they know who dunnt and afew others thatts killed innocent people they should be put in a electric chair and dealt with switly saves the taxpayers money but it wont happen cos of human rights this i the only way its going to stop i think feel so sorry for the parents

These fresh "riots" have got nothing to do with the stabbings in Southport - it's just an excuse for right wing groups to cause disruption. Was good to see/hear the residents of Southport condemn the riots in their town. Tommy Robinson and his right wing groups go on about respect and British values - they showed NONE of that when they ripped up Southport the other night. Very disrespectful to the families and community dealing with a horrendous situation. Just mindless/brainless thugs - get them charged!
