hi guys,

Does anyone know how to downgrade the firmware on an sv4?

i have v 2.03 on it and i need to downgrade it.

I've heard the downgrade works with N3

mmmmm downgrading the sv4 super USB works with NAG3 not heard that one,i wouldnt think so either..

no box works on N3 the only work around is cardshare starview 6 and the kryptview 750.

thats what i thought too. but here's what makes me think otherwise.

i bought a sv 5 box. i updated the firmware with the latest version. after about 3 weeks i bought another box for my cousin, and as far as im aware i updated the box with the same firmware.

then when n3 started to get rolled out, mine stopped working.

his however has continued to work despite all his neighbours' boxes no longer working.

i unfortunately havent had the chance to go see him, but from what he says is that it appears as though the version on the box is an older version, which could be allowing him to do this.

The other thing could be that, he called in a vm engineer to update his ligit vm box. my cousin says he somehow changed the frequency, so then after the engineer had left, he put the sv box back in, at first it did not work, but then after restarting it and doing a fresh channel scan it started to pick up all the channels and has continued to work ever since.

so is this bizarre or what???

unfortunately, i can't give you the specifics about what version is on his box etc as my cousins a bit of a retard and thick as sh*t so can't explain anythin properly.

tbh i think if that was the case one of the " know hows" on here and elsewhere would have looked into that and told everyone before we started using boxes as doorstops. I had various boxes and all would not work once i got my new vm card, plus i also knew people with old firmware on and didnt make any difference. But hey if he says its working good luck to him.!!!!
When you say an engineer updated his legit box what exactly did he do ?? coz usually all they do is resend a signal to box, or if box has a problem change for a newer one. Which is what they did with mine, they cant change the signal coming in and if you got a new vm N3 card then signal has been changed at the other end for your new card to work. Old cards actually stop the vm boxes working, so i guess its something in the chip in the new cards that the box reads to make it work

according to the list of nagra 3 most of london are still to recieve new cards, the frequency change was your cousin being swapped over to n3, the vermin must of brought the new card with him, thats my guess, sorry but its impossible for any boxes to work on n3, there are people working on it and as far as i undestand it, its going to cost a fortune to hack. tell him to enjoy it and repost in a years time if its still working as he will be sitting on a fortune.:bang head:

IF he is using the vm box as a doorstop then well hes very lucky as i would now a very high % of the UK are now on the N3 and no one has boxes that are working unless they have the ones that are using sat and cardshare. Also Ireland have been on N3 for a lot longer than the UK and they dont have a "fix" as yet
Might be an idea to either pop along and see you cousin or ask him to break down and explain exactly whats going on, as it seems very strange that he sohudl be still using a sv box thats working on N3. If thats the case i will get out my old boxes and try - but i did try it after a few weeks of having the N3 cards from Vm only to get a grey page and it screaming at me telling me ive got a fraud box etc - you cant now even us the cable as an arial for freeview tv - it worked b4 the change over as my tv has built in freeview

are sayin you should not be able to pick up free to air channels on the sv 5 box? i can pick them up on mine. At first i wasn't able to, then the other day i downgraded the firmware and then back up again, did a channel install for all channels and now i can pick up free to air channels.

how does this then work? is the feed coming into the property encrypted with n3? if that is the case then i take it the new cards for the vm boxes will allow the boxes to decrypt the feed?

So then how does an sv box manage to decrypt the free to air channels from the feed but not the others like sky sports, sky movies etc etc. all thos have a $ symbol next to them.

As for my cousins box, im gonna get hold of his box and bring it to mine to see if it works. The bit that baffles me is that he says all his neighbours boxes no longer work.

mm does seem strange! i dont know when i lost all channels and it came up screaming ( if you had sound up) never bothered to rescan for FTA channels - i already had those on the tv just needed an aerial cable and the feed in no longer worked for that. I have no idea how the feed works coming in to the property am im not an engineer,but before the change over all i know is you bought a box added firmware and it worked ( even if you didnt subscribe the feed was still live aerial coming into property - rest is to complicated for me lol! once we received new cards even the vm box didnt work with the old card it switched off so yes must have something to do with info on the chips on the card rather than them change the signal, which is why the "boxes" stopped working as the encryptions were what the firmware was for so if firmware and box was not equipped for the new N3 it wont work - or thats how i understand it - the boys will put me right - us girlies we do tend to flower things up a bit lol!

This has also happened to a friend of mine. His SV5 is working still. It will work at my house too whereas my SV4 only recieves a few channels. It makes no sense!
