Hi,

I been given a starview USB 4 box. In summary I've got lots of blank screens on several channels , others show No Signal!. Some freeview channels are showing i.e. BBC, ITV and as are other like Sky Sports 4, Boomerang, CN

I can access the hidden menu, so I'm assumming the box has some firmware loaded. Accessing the System Information shows:

Model ID : C 531
S/W version: 2.03
Boot version : b-21
Date: Sep 23 2009

Under the hidden menu:
Keycode is on

my questions are:
1. Is the box loaded with the right/latest firmware ?
2. Do I need to change any settings?
3. Am I wasting my time with the box due to NAG 3, within Coventry


Any help would be appreciated as I'm new to this

Do a factory reset after you flash the box. If you havent recieved a card from V*rgin yet, you will soon so how long you get out of it is anyones guess.

Menu > Factory settings
Pin is > 0000
English > installation
choose provider
Autoscan
Press OK
channels found
Exit
Press Menu - 1570
Turn Keycode on & set default key
Exit back out to a premium channel & let it update.
 
Hi,
I believe I made a mistake. The splash screen on the box say TheBoxUSBII which I assume is a starview 5?

I've tried to go to the link specified from the firmware page but the comes back blank. Is it my connection or has the link for the firmware for sv5 changed?

Thanks for that, followed your instructions. However after I do a auto scan its says no new channels found, and I cannot exit out, it goes back to to the main install menu that asks for the language to be selected.
 
To re-cap. I have installed the BIN file. Done a factory reset. The restart asked for the language, went past that to an auto scan which found no new files. Int he 1570 menu changed keycode to on and saved it. pressed exit and it takes me back to the installation menu, I cannot exit out of the mode. I've tried switching it off and again it comes back with the installation menu to select a language.

Do I need to change an codes? Any extra steps?
Please help.
 
if after you factory reset,you need to auto scan from direct feed no splitters or extensions.when you scan the correct provider you will see a named list of tv and radio channels,when finished exit out -menu1570-enable keycode-exit out box should update after a min.ROFL

when scanning wrong provider you cannot get out of installation because it is still waiting for the next step to be done,find channels.

Thanks for all your help. My area is NTL however this brings back no channels found, and I believe this is the reason I cannot exit from out the installation menu. I tried auto scanning on some of the other providers, and its seemed that CORUS found most of the channel. None of the other NTL, C&W, TW etc did. Using the channels found under CORUS I then set the key code to ON and this seemed to allow me to see some other channels like SP1, Movies. However, after a minute or so I hear a high pitch sound and the picture freezes.

The system info is

Model : C 531
S/W : 2.05
Boot version : B.2.02.091023
Date : Oct 2 2009

Couldn't find keyfor CORUS on the toolbar so went with NTL

My questions are :

1. Why does the pic freeze?
2. Does the code/firmware need to change?

I feel much closer than before ... couldn't have got this far without all your help.

v2.05 is glitchy,as most people went back to v2.03 also factory reset 0000 to delete auto scan your provider cho**s then enable keycode and exit out,sounds like you are n.irl:whistling:

remove any splitters before any scans.
