Streaming to VLC`

Can someone explain to me how the streaming from the zgemma 2s works?

If i go to the webif and right click the little icon next to the currently playing channel, i can then paste that in to vlc and it will play..

if i try a channel that isn't actually playing on the box it doesn't work..

however, once i'm streaming the currently playing channel, i can change the channel on the box, and the stream carries on with what was originally playing...

is that how it should work?

If you have got 2 cables going into your box, you should be able to stream a totally different channel.

open openwebif in a browser.

This works best in chrome browser.

Click the blue tv icon next to your channel and this should then automatically open in vlc player.
If it doesn't. go to your download folder. right click the m3u. open with... choose default program... choose vlc

Now clicking on the tv icon will automatically open it in vlc. no cut and paste required.

Alternatively you can press the tv icon to the left of all channels buoquets. This will download every channel as one big m3u. You can then just open this in vlc player and choose which ever channel you want.

(also make sure zap before stream isn't selected on the left of openwebif)

you might have been recording, or timeshift might have been stopping it streaming.

Hmm OK, it's something to look out for.. the box is actually on stand-by at the moment (i'm at work doing this remotely) but i'll play with some combos..

thanks

Hey sorry if this sounds daft but what do you mean by open openwebif in a browser? I got TiMote working a while ago on my galaxy tab and was able to throw stream onto Xbox one via allcast but it doesn't seem to work anymore. Not sure what I'm doing differently but can't get the darn thing to work and I never was able to play streams directly on the tab only allcast would work.

your zgemma comes with a built in plugin called openwebif. This allows you to access and stream your box via your computer. It's doesn't work well on tablets though, hence the use of apps.

Find your zgemmas ip address. Menu > information > network. ie 192.168.1.101

Then just type this into your computers/laptops address bar.

This will open up your openwebif software. Here you can do many things on your computer that you would normally do on your tv. You can use it as a big fat remote control. You can view live streams from your box by pressing the blue tv icon next to your bouquets, you can take screenshots, you can edit your settings, you can edit and create bouquets. Its a valuable piece of software.

If you want to view streams on ur tab best way I found was to get kodi , get the vu+ pvr plugin then configuration to ur box's IP address and set it to a single bouquet obvs can only view while on same network as usual unless you sort out a static IP or dyndns and some port work on router but works good for me on all devices including iPad (jail broke)

Just to add if port forwarding to remote view from anywhere outside ur network make sure you out a password on it don't want people port scanning for an insecure box now do we
