The IPTV Crackdown Continues: A Thread For Customers Not Resellers

A Lancashire man has been jailed after making almost £1 million through the sale of illegal IPTV services.

Milan Ibrahim, aged 68, of Chorley, has been sentenced to six years and six months imprisonment for running an illegal streaming business that generated £980,812 in criminal profits.

Ibrahim was found guilty of conspiracy to defraud at Preston Crown Court and will now face proceedings under the Proceeds of Crime Act to recover funds obtained through the sale of illegal IPTV services.

The operation, led by the Police Intellectual Property Crime Unit (PIPCU) at the City of London Police, has disrupted thousands of illegal streams accessed across the UK through criminal enterprise.

I don’t think that’s entirely true. I think it’s mostly just media propaganda, because the big UK providers usually have their servers outside the UK. Once they start making money, one of the first things they do is move out of the UK and go to the Middle East, where there isn’t the same level of monitoring as here.
