laptops are really coming on these days, more features and more powerful hardware, yes the hardcore gamer will always pick the desktop but for most needs these days a laptop does the job and they are really coming down in price, even some fo the cheaper ones are still good value for everyday use.
 
I always suggest a price starting from £350 will get a half decent use-able laptop for home use unless you can grab a bargain in the sale. I did this for my youngest at christmas, Ebuyer had a HP i5 reduced from £400 to £310. I had seen it the day before and it was to expensive so was going for a cheaper one. Result.

She runs Sim3, Minecraft and youtube all the time and normally together. She is happy with it.
