Tv , soundbar & hdmi arc

I’m looking at getting a new tv and soundbar , just started looking , I have therefore come across this hdmi arc , I would have just connected by optical but this hdmi arc looks useful in that it will switch the soundbar and tv off at the same time . At the moment I have loads of devices under my tv ...ps3 wii blue ray , free view box , karaoke , android ... these connect to tv via 2 hdmi switch boxes , so the question is will the sound from any of these devices come out of my soundbar if I connect the tv to it by hdmi arc , ie if I am using hdmi 2 as my source but the soundbar is connected to hdmi 1 ?

On the panasonic arc will only work through HDMI2, other makes may differ. I didn't try connecting anything else but if it works now it should work through arc.

Soundbars i notice now are small and would need a sound test to see how good they are and dont have much grunt.I bought mine many years ago and did not like it for sound in main room also has spdif inputs .Now in bedroom wow.
