Hi All

I have just purchased a Zgemma H2S and it arived with a 16GB USB Stick for recordings and EPG Updates etc, how do i go about upgrading to a new Hard Dive do i need to format in a specific way and are there any Subfolders that need to be created.

Also do i need to change any settings on my Zgemma ?

It's best formatted to Ext4. I always format it on my PC first using partition wizard.
Switch the box off and plug the new drive in and power back on.
You will need to create a new swap file.

I have read in some places that i can just plug the new hard drive in and select Initilaztion is that true ?

Initialise the new hdd on the box and then create new swap file. You may want to also use the usb for storing epg, picons, timeahift etc and then just have the hdd for recordings only.

I have tried 2 Micro SD cards, 32 & 64Gb but neither will initialise. Gets stuck at about 51/100.
Any suggestions please?

Yes. I've just realised that it was formatted on my PC but as a FAT drive.
I've now downloaded Partition Wizard and it's being formatted to Ext4 as we speak.
I tried to download your pdf but was barred from doing so as I'm a noob on the site I presume.
Hopefully these posts will give me the required status.
Thanks

I had a couple of 4T drives that i used for backing up Home videos going back to 1960's but as i upgraded my IMAC to a 4T drive I had one spare so just used that.

Hi willo, could you please elaborate on creating swap file, how to do it, how to configure it and what it's for, sorry if this sounds basic but a bit green on this stuff. Thanks

The swap file is just like the page file on a PC. If your box is doing a few things at once and uses up all the psychical memory instead of crashing it will use the swap file as extra memory. You can set it up by red button - plugins - swap manager

Thank you for your prompt reply, I am on H2h, red button just goes to program list for the channel, checked plug ins and could not see any swap manager options, does that make sense or have I missed the blindingly obvious again.

On a related matter, has anyone used the micro sd on the H2h? I cannot find any ref on forums. I have tried, card is recognised but won't initialise.
cheers
