Hi, I am going to flash my box. I want to do a back-up of my image, what size does the pen need to be? I tried the two progs in plugins, one said it can't find usb and the other one starts but runs out of space. All the usb's I try show in the box under hard drive initialization, I initialize them then added backupstick.txt.
Am I missing something?

If I initialize the pen in box then go to add the folder backup, it asks me to format pen when put in my laptop. If I do it the other way round it wipes off the folder I have added, can you add a folder from the ibox?

Hi Randyrangers,

Your pen has to be FAT32 format.

If its not its very easy to do.

First pop it into any laoptop or PC and go to properties and check your 'System File' it should read 'FAT'

You want your Usb to be at least 4gb

Also did you use the following process;

Initialize Usb
Box off
Usb in
Box on
Menu
Setup
System
Storage devices
Initialization
Initialize


Storage Setup
Menu
Setup
Vix
Swap manager
Create 256mb (This can take up to 5 minutes to create)
Autostart
Start

Dont use built in one. Backup to hdd not usb. Drive SHOULD be initialised (will wipe) 1st. Backup about 100mb usually in 15 min max

Usb can be any size if just to take backup.
Must be 32gb < for flashing.

System should read fat32 not fat. But if being initialised its irrelevant.
You will have to use ftp program to save the backup using these methods.

When u go to use the backup u create at a later date you will need to rename the folder and 1 file.
Rename xpeedlx folder to cloudix.
Remame file noforce to force.

Thank you for taking the time to do that for me, I formatted to fat 32 everytime before I plugged in. I have the pli image. Do you know how to create the 256mb on pli?

Sucmnsee. I am goosed for now, I don't have a 32gb pen if I need the image back on. I will order one and try once I get back from my holidays. Would a 1tb external hard drive work? would it ask me to format when plugged back to laptop

Up to 32 gb is ok for flash. No more. But for everything else any size goes.

Any drive u use to record onto etc should live permanently in box. Formats to ext4 which is useless anywhere else like pc.
 
I am not wanting a hard drive to record on to, I never record anything. I was meaning would I be able to use the external one to save my backup to or flash? I tried it again and it is saving it just now on a 8gb stick. Will it show the file if I plug usb in to laptop?

Ok go slow or you'll maybe hit a wall lol

1st even if u dont want to record, a usb/hdd SHOULD be left in box permanently. It will make everything better and longer lasting.
2nd before you start flashing you should be fairly certain its not a clone box as this would be BIG problem.
3rd pick if you want raw image and u do all work setting up or use someones backup all ready done.

And thats just before u start lol
 
1 I am going to add a 2gb usb stick for the epg.
2 How can you tell if it is a clone?
3 It would be easier for me to then to get a back up, I have raw image ready to go.

Its genuine, it has air ddt. Can you tell which bootloader is on the box?

Hi suc, I have it up and running of the back-up, I had a few issues. When I mounted the usb stick and rebooted it stuck at bootup screen, restarted it and it was fine. It done the same with changing location on auto bouquets, worked with another reboot. All seems to be ok apart from my display just has four dots now, any ideas what is causing that?
