Viark VIARK TYPE BOXES

Hi friend still pretty new to the viark sat 4k only had the reciever for thew months , on the last PT update prior to the latest which was released couple days ago , but didn't do factory reset when I originally updated to 1.53 , is it necessary to do this on the latest released PT version , and do I load the latest released software first then and how to factory reset box , and anything new added ? Thanks anyone replies
The Viark Team file info does suggest it needs a factory reset

To Factory reset
Menu-Instalation-Factory reset

Make sure you backup your channel settings if their important to you.

Fixed Channel logo is whats reported the new firmware fixes

They have recommended to carry out a factory reset after installing 1.27 firmware. It does appear that its made my Viark run a bit smoother and faster.

Backup your channel list before carrying out factory reset.

On Your Viark

To backup your list

Menu
Net and Games
USB.

Press EPG then 1113.
Select USB Stick
Press ok to save the channels.

To restore

Menu
Net and Games
USB

Highlight your backup and press ok

To carry out a factory reset got to installation and then factory reset. You will need to restore all your setting, OSD, USUALS etc.

I forgot some of the Middle Eastern boxes restreamed in the past and caught the Geant OTT750 Evo Allure 4k here doing it the last few weeks on the 3.7.x firmwares.

The Geant had uploaded 400GB just the last week and didn't appear to stop regardless of any DVB to IPTV / Chmax settings.

Stopped when powered of f through the menu but constantly uploading when watching anything.

All outbound STUN traffic so guessing it was restreaming the live channel being watched.

They released firmware 3.8.1 today and so far it's stopped doing it so worth keeping an eye on these recent firmwares from some of the vendors. Will be keeping a closer eye on this now to see if it starts again.

The GTCombo on latest Mars firmware doesn't restream as profiled it the last 24 hours, but the Geant OTT750 Evo Allure 4k was doing it up to and including firmware 3.7.9 and stops with 3.8.1 released today so fingers crossed that's it stopped again

..:: Edit ::..
Geant is still restreaming on 3.8.1 and have seen 40MB STUN traffic appear from the GTmedia now.

I was told the same and its reported thousands of Forever boxes are and were restreaming

I checked my Viark 4K, DRS2, Gtmedia V8 and Combo none restreaming according to my outgoing traffic. I must check the Qivart Dual.

I know also there are a lot of cloned serial numbers doing this and getting banned.

I did see them going on about the latest Geant 2500 firmwares would revert back to the real box serials. No idea what they're up to.

I might have tempted fate mate as the Combo is showing 40MB upload of STUN traffic since I posted that and pulled the cable and it's showing on the WiFi connection, and the Geant has done nearly 1GB since I wrote that.

Wonder if some poor fella has decided he wants to watch BBC2 and these are restreaming on demand through Dates or Netfly.

Sorry for newbie question? But totally misunderstanding this reply could you explain ? are you guys saying my viark 4k could be restreaming or hacked someone else using my serial number ect , when I select channel states buffering please wait then has number on screen I assumed this was my serial number / box key then channel clears ? Some do they whoever run( forever servers ) know what who is connecting too ?

My Viark Sat 4k has uploaded just over 300MB in the last 24h. Can't be anything serious but some upload never the less.

I've blocked STUN traffic from the Geant device for now (UDP/3478) to stop the handshakes to see how that goes, see if that lets it work while stopping it uploading. Hopefully worrying you guys about nothing but now they've done it in the past on some boxes.

Hopefully won't result in a device ban, don't want to tinker too much as just stuck a years VIP on it 🤣

Did a sniff and it's establishing WebRTC sessions via STUN with authentication so looks like they are potentially using some of the Android devices to restream for IPTV.

Probably on purpose as they've got to get their streams from somewhere, just don't want it being from my house, I'm being a NIMBY.

To be honest I'm not too fussed about what it's doing in the background as long as it working. And it working very well at the minute.

Just trying to save people getting pumped in the ass by Big Bubba after getting sent down for accidental restreaming 🤣
Haha, I'm more worried about them gaining access to my network. Might segregate the network that connects to behind the TV when I can be bothered. 😴

Could you guys in simple terms explain what they are doing or attempting to do , re restreaming from potentially from my reciever/ box ? ( Can they do this when box in standbye ? Or only when box is on ? Should I be disconnecting ethernet as a precaution? 👍

The Ali based Viark Sat 4k was always well behaved when I used to have one and didn't restream, in this case it's just the two Android boxes I have (Geant OTT 750 Evo Allure 4k (HiSi) and GTMedia Combo (Amlogic)) are both showing signs of restreaming up to a larger video CDN platform.

Not naming them just in case but from their website it sounds like it's a legit CDN platform they're using (and it's costing someone per GB sent):

They're only doing it while turned on - both didn't show any signs of it in standby so if you turn it off it won't do anything and if you can block STUN traffic or 3478/udp on your router from the box you should be safe for now (stopped it working here but the 1.53 line and Dates IPTV still work).

I did a full factory reset on the GTMedia Combo on latest Mars and its uploaded 1.2GB of video in the last hour so seems they do it more when hooked up via ethernet.

Could be as simple as they left a test setting turned on in the new 1.53 server firmwares. If it is on purpose it's quite a clever way of getting backup IPTV sources from devices with decent uplinks for when their sources fail, who really knows what they're up to here.

Just be patient it will come back to Viark and Mars one day they not going to leave it down forever. One day we will wake up to a pleasant surprise on 28.2e. At the start of the season they managed to get TNT back after a long time being down it doesn’t make sense for them to bring TNT back then close it all down forever. It’s just about being patient and waiting for the day it’s all back on.
