therefor channels are broadcasting in HD not SD , but still should work on any de-activated Sky Card or Freesat viewing cards .
that Transponder will not work in SD Sat boxes , there is now actually very little SD Channels remaining on Astra 28E .
But this is not anything major just some random re-share that was once again stolen .

"DVB-S2 is a transmission standard, not a video format.

It can transmit both Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) (as well as 4K and data).

While it was built to help launch HDTV because it is much faster and more efficient than older systems, broadcasters frequently use DVB-S2 to carry standard definition channels to save satellite space.

How DVB-S2 Handles SD and HD

Not limited to HD

DVB-S2 is just the digital pipe carrying the signal from space to your dish. It wraps up data streams regardless of whether the video inside is low-resolution SD or sharp HD.

Efficiency gains

Broadcasters switch SD channels from the old DVB-S standard to DVB-S2 because DVB-S2 squeezes more channels into less bandwidth.

The hardware catch

Even if a channel is broadcasting in basic SD, moving that channel to DVB-S2 means older, first-generation satellite boxes that only understand DVB-S cannot see it anymore.

You need a DVB-S2 compatible receiver (most HD boxes) to watch it"

They nearly every transponder on 28.2E is now DVB-S2, this is the reason the sd only boxes got switched off.

They now use H.264 (Mpeg4) for most SD channels now, instead of H.262 (Mpeg2) that was used with DVB-S.

Who cares ? If you watch SD channels on 28e you may as well dig out an old CRT set because the low bitrate makes em look even worse than they should look.

28e dead move on lads. Or around to 16e where 3PM's are shown.
