Look up "hide my ip" on Google, hotspot shield is available free with limitations or u can buy the software and get more bang for your buck. It might help but no promises.! I use hotspot shield quite a lot when I use pirate bay or other torrents. Also, if u remove the blanking plate and see a little box type thing on the wires, this is a device that engineers put on to stop stray signals.. A sort of filter. U can remove it but only remove one wire from one end and ensure u know which wire to put back on later. Other than that, without being in front of your laptop I can't give much more info.
